The disadvantage about doing the park how I have been doing it is that:
1. RCT3 isn't designed to run with so much scenery and the Framerate drops immensly. Even at the point where I am up to now, the FPS is low so I wouldn't bother opening the park, especially at night or try to ride any rides because I would be getting about 1 frame per 10 seconds if I did.
2. It takes a VERY long time. I started this park in mid December and I haven't got far.
3. Because it takes so long, it is sometimes very hard to get motivated and do anything. Slowly piecing a building together for an hour isn't overly rewarding or fun, which makes the process slower. And in order to get the rides properly in, the surrounding buildings have to be done.
4. Because it has taken me so long, I probably won't completely finish the park, as I am leaving in mid February to attend University, so I will be leaving the good computer that can run the game behind, so I probably won't ever play the game again.
Anyway, I still really enjoy playing the game. I just wished the framerate problems weren't so bad. For those who want to see some more pictures, I will start a thread titled after the recreation later today when I have some new pics.

I've loved RCT for a long time, when the first came out I had to have it. After I got it I played it all the time. I also got the Loopy Landscapes and Corkscrew Follies expansion packs and loved them. When RCT 2 came out i wasn't a fan of it, I really didn't like it, and still don't. I'm gonna try out RCT 3 tomorrow hopefully, it looks good, but I'm still kind of attached to the first. I've never tried to recreate CP or any of the roller coasters, I don't know, it seems to difficult, but I think I may try it out.
I can't believe you didn't like number two. I think that despite the bad reviews some of the sequels to RCT have gotten, they have gotten better exponentially as the series has gone along I think.
The ability in RCT2 for custom scenery allowed for that many things to be done (I wish custom scenery could have been introduced in 3 though). This allowed for really detailed parks to be created.
The perfect RCT3 for me would have been RCT2 in 3D, but it is still really good.
My biggest complaints with the makers of these games is that they really don't show off the possibilities that can be achieved with the game. When I first saw the RCT3 screenshots, I thought it looked really cartoony and lacking in realism just because the parks that the screens were taken of were very basic and simple. But what really sold the game to me was looking at what people on the net had been able to do with the game, I have seen some really good stuff. And even my recreation of Cedar Point so far and my previous recreation of Dreamworld I have been really happy with, despite the FPS issues, they look much better than the pics on the back of the box.
So my advice to those ever considering buying a RCT game, don't judge the product by the screenshots on the box or by the review of a person who spent half an hour building a park, check out what others have done in RCT forums and it will really sell the game. To create these parks like this though you need two things: time and commitment to finishing. This is why the only parks I ever finish are recreations, because with my own parks I am a perfectionist, as soon as a think my park doesn't look like something in real life, I start over, so I never get them finished.
And a decent computer that can run the game. I got a new computer for Christmas and my mid-model Dell can't touch the game at all. I brake down to 6 or 7 FPS. That's not even in a busy park. I haven't been able to get any kind of park going with RCT3. Looks like it's back to RCT1 and 2 for me (with a little No Limits sprinkled in!)
I purchased RCT3 was very disappointed. The game lost its charm from the previous versions. The first site I had of the game was a error message. The second site was the sandbox mode. I have an older computer so it doesn't run well, but I still was able to check it out. The things I like about the game are the way the guests walk in groups, it is something that always was different in the games. Riding the rides also sounded cool. When I played the game for a little while I found the controls difficult to use, the roller coasters looked terrible and rode terrible, the coaster sounds weren't real sounding, the firework mixer was cool but looked complicated, the people looked cool, and the flat rides look cool. Overall the game was far from good. I can't believe how the track elements are made out of straight lines, the supports don't always meet the track, and the trains are really oversized. RCT3 sounded like the game I always wished the other games were like, but now I realized why RCT and RCT2 were made how they were and why they were good that way. The gameplay of RCT3 sucks, grapics suck, idea is good though.
Anyway, I'm glad to see people have enjoyed the game.

I agree fully with Gomez. Although the game worked fine on my computer, the graphics disappointed me greatly and the controls were a bit difficult to use. Roller Coaster Tycoon, the original, along with the expansions, Corkscrew Follies and Loopy Landscapes are awesome. RCT 1 is made by Micro Prose, RCT 2 is made by Atari, and so is RCT 3. Whats up with the change?
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Here's a great site for free aerial shots.
This is the most recent aerial of the park. I know it isn't detailed info on the park, however i can't think of a better way to determine the positioning and scale of major rides and buildings.
