Any News?

On Maxair? Anybody been there and able to find out any info on when it may be open again? What is the problem?

i read on Wikipedia.com that it is going to be down for the remainder of the '07 season and that they don't know when it will open or if it will open for the '08 season.

Wow the 08 season.....wouldn't they be working on it in the offseason, if they don't fix it for 07?

^ I agree Walt. That is the only thing about wikipedia that I don't like. Most of the time it is pretty darn accurate though.

I wouldn't rely too heavily on Wikipedia. I know for my college courses, we can't cite it in papers or anything simply because you don't know who wrote the information.

When I was there labor day weekend (Sorry im not going to write a trip report it would take to long) there was a bunch of shrapnel (sp) at the top and they had a long wire from the top of the structure to the seats.

Also on my trip Raptor was closed on Saturday and then opened on Sunday in the afternoon. When I was there on Sat they replaced the chain on the lift hill. Do they do that often?

I was at the park and was told that they are waiting on a part that probably won't get in until after the season is over. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens

yes i know Wikipedia isn't always right, but like tcgolfer said most of the time it is pretty acurate.

Did anybody ask at the Joe Cool Lunch or breakfast or w/e it was?

I was told by a Raptor ride-op that the gearbox has to be replaced.

How long has it been down? This is news to me...

Too fat - there was a bucket attached to that cable, probably for getting tools up to the top as it would be pretty unsafe to try and carry a bucket while climbing up there.

All I noticed was that the housing was off. I could see it being down the remainder of this season, depending on how long it takes to get the parts, but all of next season? Is it any wonder Wikipedia has gotten the reputation it has for being in-accurate?

Someone mentioned to me (I wont quote them directly cause I'm not certain on their source) that they need to replace a very expensive part coming from Europe. It also sounded like a pretty bad malfunction though I was not to clear on what initially happened. It will also most likely be down till 2008.
