We are making our annual trip next weekend from Rochester, NY and we would like to know if there are any construction hot spots we should know about? We are are taking 90 all the way to somewhere around Cleveland I think and then route 2 to 6. There are a couple of shorter highways between the main routes, but I hope you get my point. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Well, from the westside of Cleveland 90 West to route 2/6 is "free" of major tie ups. Any construction being done is being handle "off hours" (mostly night time). About 1 mile EAST of Rye Beach Road exit there is construction which takes the road down to one lane in each direction. So far in all the trips to the Point this year (15 to date) I have not hit any major delays. Just be careful becuase people don't read the "right lane ends ahead" sign and then decide to merge.
Good Luck on the trip down.
If you must, you can take I90 west and get on the Ohio turnpike interchange near Amherst to avoid the constuction by Rye Beach Road also.

Where exactly does Rye Beach road fall into my travel plans? What route # is that?
Thanks
Even with the Rye Beach construction, that route would take much longer. The construction only begins about a mile before the Rye Beach exit and really doesn't become a pain until you're past Rye Beach Road.

If you're coming from the west on I-90 to Rt 2, Rye Beach Road is the exit off of Rt 2 that you want to take to get to CP.
I-90 and Rt 2 out of the Cleveland suburbs are the same 4-lane highway. About 30 minutes west of Sandusky and 30 minutes east of downtown Cleveland, I-90 leaves the highway and joins with the turnpike. Stay on the 4-lane highway (and thus you stay on Rt 2) and you'll be at Rye Beach Road in 25 minutes.

Yahoo directions have me taking this route at some point past Cleveland:
Merge onto I-90 W. 1.3
Stay straight to go onto OH-2 W. 25.5
Take US-6 W. 0.2
Take the US-6/RYE BEACH RD exit. 0.3
Turn RIGHT onto US-6. 2.0
Is this the best route? For some reason I don't remember turning right onto route 6.
I appreciate all the help. I can't remember the path we took last year.
Ummm. You are correct..YOU DO NOT TURN RIGHT onto Route 6. When you exit at Rye Beach Road, you do turn right at the stop sign. Proceed NORTH to the intersection of Rye BEach Road and Route 6. Tunr LEFT at this intersection...This will take you right to the CP causeway.
Thank You, I knew something sounded strange. Yahoo and Mapquest both told me the same thing.
