Any 4th of July tips?

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on seeing the CP fireworks on Wednesday. I am thinking about taking my kids to see them. This will be our first time to ever see CP's 4th of July fireworks!

Where is a good place to sit?

If we come JUST for the fireworks say around 8:30 or so, am I going to encounter heavy traffic coming in as well?

Generally speaking, is it very organized? Is the crowd handled well? Or is it just a bunch of people everywhere getting trampled?

Last year I just went in the evening to take pictures of the fireworks. What we did was actually park in the overflow lot on the bay side of the parking lot, and then "camped out" on some of the grassy area(s) near the marina between Famous Daves and Bay Harbor. The result was being relatively close to our vehicle, and being able to get out of the parking lot pretty quickly due to our location.

Don't get me wrong though. It's very busy and there are a ton of cars. On my first July 4th at the park, I watched 3 of the Causeway's 4 lanes turn into a parking lot of cars on their way out. Luckily I was staying on Point.

If you want to see fireworks form a good spot, either watch them from the picnic shelter by demon drop or get in line for Maxair before the fireworks start (depending how long the line is) so if you judge your time right, you can end up riding it as the fireworks shoot off. I did that before and to me, it's the best seat in the house!

I'll be there on the 5th and 6th, staying at Hotel Breakers.

I sure hope they don't skimp on the fireworks again this year. The 4th displays have been getting shorter and shorter the past few years.

Don't park in the Soak City lot. A few years ago it took about an hour and fifteen minutes to get out to the causeway.

A great view and atmosphere is anywhere on the beach behind or near the Breakers

^ Even if you stayed until the park closes at 12?

I plan on heading out there on the 4th with some friends. The weather looks kinda rainy, which I'm hoping that means lighter crowds. But I don't even know if it's worth trying to head out there with how anal CP has got with closing rides in rain after the Magnum incident. Cedar Point is still like this... right?

If it's gonna be like that, I might head out to Geauga Lake instead.

Sense I am a season pass holder. We go about 8:30pm or so and get as close as we can in the parking lot. Then just sit up chairs and bring drinks and just hang out in the parking lot. Close up, very nice to see the fireworks. Car go off all over the parking out from the booms. Then when it is over enjoy where you are at and don't be dumb about pushing you're way into the parking lot and trying to get out fast. Becasue that is not going to happen. Just enjoy yourself.

If you go inside the park the beach is really nice place to go. Until they moved them and the parking lot got better! LOL!

For anybody who went, were the fireworks good this year? I have not went in years ans I miss them. Did they even show the fireworks yesterday?
