With the talk about Project 2007, many people think there is a possibility that the Antique Cars may be removed. With there being 2 other Car rides would it really matter?
Which is your favorite, Antique Cars vs. Cadillac Cars vs. Turnpike Cars. Why do you like one better than another.
I always liked the rides as a kid and I know my nephew loves to ride them. But now that I'm older, I have mild allergies and the fumes from the cars bother me. I try to avoid the Car rides as much as possible.

I would rather see Cadillac or the Turnpike cars gone. The Antique Cars really fit back there in FT, whereas the other two are just old cars on a modern midway.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
I'm more of a fan of the Antique and Cadillac Cars than the Turnpike Cars. As for if the Antique Cars were to be removed... The majority of people I've talked to or have told that there's a possibility that they might be removed (due to rumors), have almost all said that they prefer the Antique Cars versus the Cadillac Cars.

Antique Cars definitely adds charm and atmosphere to Frontier Town, and I would be sad to see them go. (But then I'm always sad to see anything go!)
Turnpike is the keeper, here. Even though it was modified when Raptor went in the layout remains the most traditional and typical of such rides built in the 60's. The Cadillacs are virtually unchanged, I think. My 1st summer working at the Point was at the Surrey, right next door to the Cadillacs, so I have an affinity for them. Turnpike, however, is still my favorite.
Sorry about your allergies, but I think the sound and smell of the car rides really adds to the park. With fuel prices being what they are, however, I look for parks to eventually refit their rides with the electric cars. (Hopefully not like that ridiculous makeover at Kennywood, but maybe more like the ones at Fiesta Texas or Dollywood-the coolest Turnpike ride ever) The electric rides operate more like a darkride and are less taxing on the operators. One drawback is that they take an elemant of rider participation away (foot to the pedal), but are they safer- not only for the riders but for the operators as well.
I remember the Turnpike and the Skyride boys were always the most exhausted at the end of the day.

All of them are stinky and I wouldn't mind seeing any or all of them go. But, they ARE fun for the little ones--to drive their parents around for a change.

CP Mac, in regards to the electric cars, would it be feasible to convert the cars to something like a golf cart. In that they would be battery opperated? That way you still retain the rider control.

Conversion would be an unfortunate turn of events. One of the biggest parts of the ambiance on that part of the midway is the sound of the accelerating, decelerating, and occasional bumping of the cars. The Turnpike Cars have a very distinctive sound, as do the Antique and Cadillac cars. It adds to the overall atmosphere, as does the exhaust.
Perhaps the fact that they are simple 2-cycle Tecumseh & Briggs & Stratton motors will help keep them unchanged. Those kinds of motors do use less fuel than a 4-stroke gas engine.
If they made them electric cars, it would take a lot of the heart of a classic CP ride.

I like all 3 of them. Espicially the one that goes under Raptor. The fumes smell great from them, and i like driving, having the car go all over the track. :P
Cadillac Cars is nearly a continuous right hand turn. On Turnpike Cars the pedal is too close to an adult which makes the ride so dang uncomfortable.
Antique is definitely the ride I prefer.

Yes, it seems those Turnpike cars get smaller and smaller each year! Not that I'm getting any taller...!
Over the years Turnpike cars have been added and/or replaced so there's several styles and models, and they seem to be of varying color schemes and sizes. (Love that hot pink one-no, the black one-no, I want the silver one...) On a ride last year I got one that was so small I had to sit way to the side of the wheel to get behind it, and the pedal was somewhere in the middle of the floor, so all in all a pretty miserable ride. While I agree that most of the great sensory factor would be eliminated, this might be another arguement for the electric cars.
I never thought about golf cart style cars for a ride like this, Jason Hammond. Man, they'd REALLY be quiet then!

I'm still shocked that its 2006 and all three are still operating. Seriously as seperate rides they all take up a lot land. Out of the three I've always like the Antique cars the best.
I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.
I'd love for Antique to stay because it fits into the Frontier theme, but they seem like the most likely to be on the chopping block at this point in time. I like them all!
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I agree Cadillac Cars are indeed a complete right hand turn cloverleaf circuit. Turnpikes are too small and I think the pedals are too hard to push for some kids maybe most.
I like Antiques. Very scenic. Left and right turns. Also, Antiques also appears to retain long lines. It's the only one fo the three with actual queues. The other two have in and out style queues...
Personally I like the Turnpike cars. While there are not so many Antique Car rides left, and they are very atmospheric they just don't do it for me.
Perhaps it's because I particularly enjoy that little branch of the park. It's possibly the most remote corner of the park with no more than Calypso, the Turnpike cars, and of course Blue Streak ride wise.
While I'm getting older, and the cars get smaller I would definitely take the discomfort to a point for the ride. I'm sure it is meant as more of a kids ride.

Exactly, for me that wasn't so long ago and when I was able to drive them I was a "big boy!" This includes all three car rides.
To me, the Cadillac Cars and the Antique Cars aren't so different. To many they are probably a world apart. Anyway I don't want to lose any, but if it's necessary lose the Cadillac cars. *** Edited 4/16/2006 7:42:06 AM UTC by CP Tay Tay***
Summer was made for a Cedar Point day~
I personally like the Turnpikes the best, as there is more to their layout than the others. However, I would hate to see the Antiques go (even though I think it might happen) as they do fit in with their location the best. Getting rid of the Turnpikes and Cadillac cars would also free up a decent amount of land for future expansion. At the very least, I would to see the Cadillac Cars go, as they are very redundant, and that would be enough room for a nice sized new flat ride.
Most parks have only one of these types of rides, if any, and a lot of parks have removed theirs. I'm not saying CP should or will eliminate them completely, but I would say the days of there being three in one park are soon to be over. It's just not necessary, and as I stated before, redundant.
Take care and God bless!
I personally like the Turnpike Cars best, but if both the Turnpike and the Cadillac Cars were removed, it would free up some prime real estate for a new thrill ride or something along those lines.

Congrats on the first post Raptorboy, keep all of them as well formated as that one and you will get along fine here. ;}

I'm a GM man so naturally I have to say remove the antique cars and keep Turnpike and Cadillac.
However, would it really be that hard to design a ride around the layouts? It should not be...
DIL - there are 3 sit-down steel roller-coasters at the park too. Isn't that a little redundant?
Goodbye MrScott
