Another Gorgeous Weekend

Well, its almost November 16th, and it's supposed to be very nice again this weekend.  Lower to mid 60's, and the third weekend with out our favorite past time.  Which makes me wonder:  COULD Cedar Point have stayed open a few more weekends if they wanted to?  I know perhaps not the entire park like during Halloweekend Saturdays and Sundays, but why not open up the big rides for the weekends if it's this nice out?  You wouldn't even have to promote it too vastly.  Perhaps just post something on the main website "Cedar Point OPEN this weekend. (limited ride availability)"  I'm sure it would be beneficial to CP, not to mention a HUGE Public Relations move.  Anybody else have these thoughts?

Probably not.. They were spread pretty thin towards the end of the season.

Never seen so many Booster Bucks adn Ride Prides in the park.

Are you saying that CP should have planned to be open today long ago, or that they should have "added on" to the end of the season because it was warm?

Figures, it was sixties and rainy (which is misty in the Orlando sense) here in Orlando. Felt a lot like an opening weekend at CP down here!

I'm sayin they should have "added on" to the season. And once he snow and cold finally did come and settle in for the next 5-6 months, then say, hey, we'll stay open one more weekend, and then its done.

This is pretty unusual weather for November, and something like this would HAVE to be planned in order to have enough employees scheduled to work, even on an unlimited basis. Unless they put employees "on call". Besides, even the local employees probably enjoy having their weekends off during unusually nice weather in November.

Bird of Prey,

Talk to most of the full time employees to "add on" some weekends and I bet they would knock you right on your asphault!  Being open until the end of October is a huge undertaking, let alone going further.

Jeff, you missed the nice weather in Orlando by a couple of days.  I was up there last Sunday and Monday and the weather was very nice.  Sunny and cool!  I would have like to have met you.  I saw the Convention Center setting up for IAAPA.  Did you see the addition to the Convention Center?  It is unbelievable.

BTW...if you get a chance, go play miniature golf at Fantasia Gardens (by the Swan and Dolphin).  I played it last weekend and I have never played a more challenging game!

"Add on" weekends? They start to prep the park for winter the day it closes. I don't think they would ever do something like that.

I think that CP should just stay open year round.  Granted, nobody would go there when it snowed, and they'd waste a vast amount of money in payroll but it sure would be convenient for me -- IF I happened to be in Cleveland in January AND it happened to get up into the 50's AND I had some time to kill -- if the park would happen to be open then.

Yep, that sure would be a good thing.

...yeah, it sure would be nice to just punch off the clock during winter and driver 3 hours over to CP to get some serious frostbite from the windchill while riding the coasters...;)
93mph at 20 degrees???

Ouch!!

...That was Schwabinchen' awesome!!

I thought it was 93mph at 80 degree...because 20 degrees would mean a really, really long straight-away for the descent...:) j/k

I think that the park should not stay open all year long.  Despite the fact that I do miss it in the winter.  But I would rather wait a few months, than have the snow and cold ruin one of the coasters.  I agree with birdofprey00, that they should've kept the park open a few weeks longer, permiting to the weather.  I mean if it was only open to those who saw it on the official website, then the park could've made a few extra bucks.  And we could've gotten a few extra rides on the MF or maggie.~CPprincess

ahhh...:)
Ummm, in the midst of Ohio, land of the rapidly changing weather you think that tenatively keeping the park scheduled open would be a good idea?  First if you say maybe it will be, people will come and inevitably be pissed if they do close.  If you don't advertise, there will most likely be hardly anyone there.  Also, there is a heck of a lot needed done in the offseason....do you really want to be a maintenance guy told that you have to wait until the weather is extremely crappy before you can go work outside on things?  And this too after CP has already extended the season, shortening the time already of offseason work.  Trust me, offseason might suck for us, but it is extremely necessary for CP to have to remain the top notch park that it is.
