Announcement Day: Nov 19?

Hey gang, I called the park today and was told by several people there that the PR Department has decided that November 19 was the official announcement date. If this turns out to be true, I would be disappointed as I thought it would come something this month. Any comments?

Mikey :)

Well, I dont think that it would be that late, also, I think Jeff, the webmaster said the announcement was going to be in October, if I am correct,I can't wait that long!...lol
I have two bets... The week after closing, or December 4th, which coincidentally is my 16th b-day!

November 12, I say... "Unbelievable, that old Biff could have chosen that particular date. It could mean that, that point in time inherently contains some sort of cosmic significance. Almost as if it were the junction point for the entire space-time continuum. On the other hand, it could just be an amazing coincidence."

Hey Folks:

I called the park to see what they had to say and PR said "as early as next month" but he thought about it for a second. Anyways, take that as you will.

Millennium Rider: December 4th is MY 16th Birthday!

*GASP* What a great b-day gift if it WAS on November 12th?

There isn't much to be gained by making the announcement soon. The news is still saturated with terrorism and bad economic stuff and there obviously isn't going to be a giant "coming soon" sign in the park to generate interest. CP would probably do better by allowing us fanatics to stew all winter and then make a big announcement in the early spring and play it up big.

Just a thought.

Darnit.  First it was late summer (August), then it was sometime in fall, then it was for sure October, now it's being pushed back into winter.  November 19 sounds right to me now.  However, isn't this considerably late for an announcement?  I mean wasn't even Lighthouse Point Announced before this?  I'm disappointed, but at least now I will not get my hopes up...

edit:  hey it looks like LHP was announced on 10/26/01.

...But November 19 is a bit late. I would expect an announcement on or before November 14, no later than November 16. Particularly if there is anything innovative about it.

Why, could our good friend Mr. Althoff be talking about a certain convention to be held in warmer climbs south of here?

I don't understand the delay. Since season passes are so cheap now till October 31, you think they would want to build excitement. So that tells me that this announcement is going to be a disappointment in regards to most at CP.
I truly believe that CP would not give its day of press release.  The park has been very good at keeping what is happening a secret, so I would think they would keep the announcement date a secret.  But, maybe November 19th is the date... who knows.

You just can't make some people Happy no matter what ya do! CP does something great and lower prices on passes and people want more...SO what your saying is that because CP is delaying the announcment People aren't gonna buy passes right? C'mon!

SOME of us (ME) go to CP for OTHER reasons besides their "next" big attraction. My opinion is CP should do like SFGAdv did, start building what ever it is, (Nitro in their instance) THEN announce what it is when it's almost DONE. I have to side with Sparty here, some people arent happy no matter what CP does. Me? I love CP no matter what, I'll be there no matter what! :)

I never said anything about a specific date other than it would be after the park closed for the season.

Hey Jess, I think 11/11 is the better date!:)

I called the CP info line today and was told that they had NO IDEA when the announcement would be.  However, the op said to look in the paper.  I doubt she meant todays paper though.
I don't care when the announcemnet is. We can pretty much tell what's going in already, and this weekend there should have been more work done around oceana.
