Announcement at IAAPA?

With announcement rumors moving farther and farther back, could we expect the announcement to be made at next weeks IAAPA Show?

At this point, the trade show looks like the best bet as a time for the announcement. It would also stop the question of: When's the announcement? What's your $.02?

I don't personally think it'll be announced their, mostly because a vast majority of the public doesent go. But maybe?!

A vast majority of the public probably won't be at the announcement anyway, just media. Is there a lot of media usually at the IAAPA?  If so, I think it's a good idea.

I hope they announce soon, it (not knowing) is starting to get very annoying.

I think CP should do like Six Flags Great Adventure did with Nitro-build it, finish it, THEN announce what it is!!
Sometimes suspense is a good thing!! :)

I know for a FACT it WILL be announced on the 19th!!!!

Mark the date on your calendar and see if I am right. I bet a few  $ dollars $ I am.

I think we have not heard an announcement due to the fact of a conflict between Intamin and Cedar Fair over the responsibility of the Perilous Plunge accident. If I were Cedar Fair I would hold off announcing any new project between them, until it was settled. Look at what the press would do to such a situation...Knott''s Berry Farm and/or Cedar Point announce today that they are going to have a coaster built by a company that the State of California says was possibly responsible for the death of a park guest.

With the recent bad press over amusement park safety, I would guess Cedar Fair would want to make sure that all their bases were covered before announcing such a thing...which means that it could be a while until we hear anything.

That's an interesting point.. I've never thought about that...
Lake54321, what do you support your "knowhow," of the announcement date with?

"Ahh... Good Times!"
Force Laps: 424
VertiGo Shots: 32
6/11/01: Gemini 100

cp1984...

I don't think that has anything to do with it. That case won't be settled for months if not years. Construction has already started and started after the accident.

Hey man, be careful, It's been several dates before, and all of them have been blown. I'm just saying it may be that date now, but unless papers are signed and invites are sent out, I won't be convinced it's any one date.

Also, I don't think it will be in Orlando, not everyone can go to Orlando, and they want all their people to be there. It's hard getting everyone in one place at one time, so why not do it as close to home as possible.

First of all, IAAPA is a trade show where amusement parks are buyers. They're not selling anything. It's not a platform to make announcements.

Second, if anyone gives you a date, it's crap.

Third, just leave the conspiracies alone, eh? I don't think most people appreciate what it takes to launch a new product (at least, how to do it right). You've got to deal with concept art, stills, animation, logos, letterhead and envelopes need to be printed, satellite time needs to be booked (in the case of MF, anyway), the staff can't be on vacation or out of town (IAAPA) so they can take media calls... there are a hundred things that go on that most people don't know about.

It's too obvious and not nearly as exciting to talk about, but real life says they're just not ready. They aren't sitting around with everything ready thinking, "Oh boy, let's go read the 900-post topic on GTTP."

MF count: 1, going for 2000

Also with one marketing RP going to the trade show and one being on his honeymoon that leaves one person left in the office when the announcement is made.  They need their full staff there.
