Angle of 3rd support?

Does anybody know the angle at which the third support on the tower is at? Using that angle, we could probably figure out the height of Project 2003 (assuming that 3rd support extends to the very top)

I did a rough estimate using a piece of paper against my monitor watching the webcam....i measure it would go about half the size of the current tower hieght....somewhere around there. But thats not that accurate.

this is a good pic but has a few braches in the way.

Looks like 15 degrees off vertical to me. Say the back piece is about 50 ft. away from the front two and that'd give about 200 ft. as a VERY rough estimate. Any other thoughts?

Yes, it clearly has an angle to it, but don't hurt yourself trying to figure how it will work. The parts on site only tell part of the story. Tt's very hard to tell where what goes where, when you don't know how they will fit together, and of course the fact that not all the parts are on site doesn't help at all.

Here are a few facts from the parts on site.

The tower will connect to the top of the tophat, there are connectors on the crown track. There is one big weird connector on site that looks like it connects the three towers together somere up there. There is a track connector on the left side of the tower that is for the tophat, but doesn't go the right way. [it suggests that it will twist more than 90 degrees] The coaster will be a L TH B.

Look at the current pictures at www.virtualmidway.com there are alot of things that are still unknown, but only time will tell.

First, I don't know about 15 degrees for the angle of that support - it is really tough to tell.

I assume that weird connector you are talking about, SteelMonsters, is this one? It looks to me like it will be at the very top of the structure and will not only connect the angled third tower with the other two but will also connect to either the top piece of track itself or possibly an additional support that would in turn connect to the top piece of track. It will be interesting to see... :)

Yes that could be true, but look at the width of the supports on that thing. The weird support is a lot wider than the supports that are going up now, and I'm sure that it is a lot heaveir (or it appears that way). I don't think that that could be used to cap off the tower.
I can't peice the top of the tower together in my head. I guess I'll have to wait for it to be put up.

Yes that weird peice is that picture, I can't place it. there are 5 connectors in the pictre, one is offset... It simply doesn't make sense to me at this point. It's going to be complicated, a little too complicated to visualize from pictures of peices.

i think that third support will continue at the angle its at until it reaches the other two and will be the piece that holds the crest of the top hat (unlilke xcelerator). i can visualize it in my head and i think that it will look very good asthetically.
The three big connectors on the weird peice make sense, and it looks upside down, but what confuses me are the other connectors...

Glad I wasn't the first to say it. I thought that since the first vertical piece was visible. It is impressive in its stature but awful in its asthetics.

Is that really the best color they could come up with?

Yes, I do think it's ugly. I also think that Wicked Twister is ugly, so my opinion may be discounted a bit.

I stated that in another post, the yellow doesn't go with the rest of the color scheme

If they could have made the track all one color, it would have been much better. I don't care if it makes it seem faster, the thing looks horrible. Oh well, it will be one heck of a ride.
Come on, engineers can't be decorators too. I also think WT is ugly. The green and yellow combo is sickening.

The Fast and the Fearless

I like the color combination of WT. Greens and yellows are compatable colors on the color wheel.

I also think that tower and the red track will really stand out against the skyline.

Why don't one of you guys start a new topic about the color of this ride. This one is titled "Angle of 3rd Support" and should be closed anyway!
Let the mods do the moderating. If you don't like the way the thread is progressing, don't respond! Just go with the flow, man ^_^

I like WT's bright colors. However I do agree that the colors of Dragster so far aren't very appealing. White, red, yellow, and tan don't all look so great together. I'm sure, however, once there is an announcement, the colors will make sense with a racing type theme.

I think they both look fine. Perhaps CP wanted to build a structure that would not only serve its supporting purpose, but in a relatively small are...Duh!

just to comment on how much that weird support weighs, when i was at the park on it was writtin 8.5 tons
I've had bets that that third tower would lean forward and connect to the top since I first saw the tower progress. But I am confused as to what that connector on the side of the one tower will do. Obviously hold track, but it's angled all oddly IMO.

As for the color scheme, I thought it was an odd color choice for that midway, but instead it looks like they are building a ride and making the midway match to fit it. Anyone notice the Gemini Games getting a new paint Job? I'd like to see what it looks like all finished next year.
