An Idea for Soak City

Okay this is not a rumor, just an idea that I had. I was looking at pictures of Paramount Carowind's new Super Saturator roller coaster. It is a single vehicle suspended roller coaster. However, the cars are apparently armed with water balloon bombs, plus the people in the cue have water guns and there are various exploding water obstacles along the way. The capacity on a coaster like this would probably be too low for Cedar Point itself, but I thought that it would be a fun and unique addition to Soak City or maybe even Challenge Park. Anyway, just an idea that I had.
I highly doubt any park would put in a ride that is armed with any kind of bomb, even water. Firing something at another person leaves the park open to huge liabilities. If a balloon or whatever they are hit someone in the eye and knocked it out they would get sued, even if you do give your rights away when you buy the ticket. Water flying out at someone I could see but not a human launched water bomb, it just can't happen these days.

I'm familiar with the coaster you're talking about, and I hear it'll be a blast! I think it's made by either Setpoint (Pteranadon Flyers at IOA) or the company that made Ghost Coaster at PKI (name escapes me). Either way, it looks like a fun ride to me. The Carowinds site doesn't say much, but I'd be all for something like this at Soak City!

I think another cool addition would be something like (I think it's called) Master Blaster at (I think) Schlitterbahn. I remember seeing it on one of the Discovery Channel specials on rollercoasters. This is simply a type of waterslide (I don't think they used rafts, rather just a body slide), but what is unique, is there are jets of water at certain points of the ride that will carry the rider up a hill.

how do you do this though..I mean do you not charge for admission to SC anymore..or do you just make it a coaster for SC patrons?? Just curious as too how they would do something like that...

IF CP would ever get such a thing, I bet they would raise the price of SC and then you would have to go to SC to ride it. It would be cool though

Natas is right about that coaster (water coaster). Curious to see what that will look like in reality.

I saw the Master Blaster slide on Discovery Channel as well and thought it would be a great addition to Soak City. It kind of looked like a water coaster in some regards because I believe you ride it on a raft (as opposed to your bare body).
I talked with the Setpoint people at IAAPA, though only briefly. Each of the cars on the Carowinds ride is equipped with a water cannon and a 4-gallon reservoir.

So when the riders get nailed by the water cannon in the queue, they can fire back. 8-)

Yeah you guys are right, I think that it is a water cannon and not water bomb. Water balloons would obviously be a huge liability, not to mention the fact that (now that I think about it) there would be no way to reload the water balloons.

There are construction pics of this coaster at this address.

Also, responding to the comment above about how they would charge for this. I sort of pictured it as a roller coaster for Soak City guests only. It would probably raise the price to get into the park, but I'm sure that Cedar Point wouldn't mind that one bit. Plus, with the low capacity that I'm sure this ride would have, Soak City would be a much more suitable home for it than Cedar Point anyway.

The builder of the Carowinds Coaster is Setpoint, Inc.
The Master Blaster at the Dell's is awesome!!! The force of the water pushes you up hills, and that is such a weird feeling, like your body is the coaster! This would be a great addition to Soak City!!!

The more you ride it, the more you want it!
It's worth noting that there *are* park attractions which *do* make use of water balloons. Ever see the "Water Wars" attractions, usually extra-pays? I know I've seen them on carnival midways, and I know I've seen it at at least one park, but I can't remember where it was........

I think your thinking of PKI. They have/had
an attraction like that. I think it was called Double Dare or something.

they have a thing like that at Sea World where you shoot ballons at each other

Well there is one at SWO and I'm sure they are others at SWF, SWT and SWC. I belive in Ohio they are located near Shamu's Happy Harbor.
few things i'd like to say about this ride...

there is a slight liability on this water baloon launching ride though, it's pretty obvious, if someone gets hurt cedar point could be in a lot of trouble, sure there is the warning 'ride at your own risk' but just waiting in line to get nailed with an unexpected water baloon goes way past that.

the pricing could go like this, buy your admission to soakcity and then another place inside the waterpark you could buy tickets for the ride. it's kinda practical, but i think it would work

another important thing, OOOOH MAN A RIDE LIKE THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!! all that liability stuff i was saying is just the lawyer side of me talking, a ride like that would be amazing!!! but that's all i really have to say on this. later yall.

I wasn't aware we had so many members here who were lawyers.
