An explination please on MF's lift.....

Can someone explain what MF's "Elevator Lift System" Prototype is? I have heard it's like a sled that takes the ride up and slides back down for the next hill. I have also heard that It would be "pushed" up the hill by small nubs in the wire. The last rumor I heard was it would just be pulled up the hill by a rope then releases at the top. Which one is it? Or is it something different?
From what i learned it is an elevator type cble system that will contol the lift. The exact details I am not sure of, but there are others here that will help.

Check the MF anatomy first in the ride section.

Additionally, having seen it in action, the drum and motor are located directly under the drop. The drum winds a cable that goes up the height of the lift, over the top and down to the station. A "sled" slides between two I-beams in the track that somehow attaches to the train, though I'm not entirely sure how at this point. Once the train is pulled over the top, the sled reverses direction, pulled by a cable that goes from the same drum to the station then up the hill.
