Amherst patrolman alerts Spehn family of fire

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Spehn family as they recover from the physical and emotional damage caused by this fire. That patrolman really is a hero.

For those of you who don't know, Bill Spehn is the VP of Operations at CP. Apparently he said at CoasterMania that he reads GTTP all of the time, so as far as I'm concerned, he's one of "us."

I'm going to set up a donation system on Sunday so we can collect a little for him to deal with short-term issues. Sure, insurance can help rebuild his house, replace furniture, etc.,

Kristin sent this to me after she read it. I'm glad everyone is okay and would like to donate to help out this hardworker of CP. Hopefully the family can get back on their feet soon.

Actually, I'm going to see if the park is doing anything. If they are, it would make more sense to get involved that way than create something here (and give my accountant something else to figure out). I'll let you know.

Good idea Jeff.... Having some close freinds go through a similar thing, insurance only goes so far and does nothing for them when they need it the most ( which is immediate).

Be sure you do let us know Jeff as soon as you know. I've known Bill for a couple years now. When I was working at CP had coffee with him a couple mornings in the employee cafeteria. A nicer guy you will never meet! Bill's kids are beautful! Thank goodness for that patrolman!! :)

Bill has been with CP for a long time. I have to believe the company will come forward to help. I am sure they could put they family up in the off-point condos to make things more convenient for him.

It just goes to show how quickly your world can change, and how precious the people and things in your life are. Thank god for that policeman. Bill has beautiful kids, and I'm glad that everyone in his family is safe.
