I think having a lights parade would be an awesome idea like they have at Disney World. Of course, probably wouldn't be the best idea financially I suppose in comparison.

That would crowd the midway too much.
I think the Light Show is Kick $#8. They dont need to replace it. But I beleive that '98's was better.

Perhaps a simple solution would be to get some new music other than trying to re-mix the show for the sixth year in a row. Even being an employee who hears it numerous times a year, it is pretty sad when you have it memorized three days into your contract!
The Summer Sucktacular is terrible, for all the reasons I've said a hundred times over the last two years. The music is too safe and not culture-neutral, that's the first mistake. Actually, that's the only mistake. There are too many things in the show that alienate portions of the audience ("American" music alienates Canadians, Michigan vs. Ohio rivalries alienate those from other states and those who could care less about college sports, etc.). They've got the lights, lasers and sound system to make an entertaining show, but the music is so terrible.

A parade would not crowd the midways too much. Disney World has midways half the size of CPs and does two parades a day (sometimes three). What would make a parade tough is the staffing. CP has trouble getting enough kids to run the rides, let alone walk in a parade.
Not only would it be tough to staff, but it would be another X amount of dollars that they would have to dish out to pay all the employees in the parade. Since they already have money invested in the Summer Spectacular, I don't see it happening any time soon. Although they parade bands around in there all the time, I don't see why they couldn't do a parade...people would probably be more willing to stop for a parade than a band. (No offense to bands...I did my time in marching band...unfortunately I just call it how I see it! When we paraded around Disneyland when I was in High School and Junior High, people just seemed upset that they had to wait to cross to get to the Matterhorn...they didn't care that we were playing. Although I shouldn't complain. It was a free ticket for 5 years!)

Build a Freemount Street type deal over the main midway. (like in Vegas.)

Just have a kick-butt fireworks only show over the lake...the future boardwalk project would be the perfect setting. I never liked how that screen covers the train depot...it's a landmark.
What the laser show needs is some new creativity. Laser shows are good entertainment, I really liked the Summer Spectacular during the first year. It’s getting stale though, as it is basically the same every year. It needs a major overhaul, with new music and graphics. The sports rivalry segment is getting really old, they should do away with it. On a more positive note, I really enjoyed Jump, Jive and Jam this year. I though it was the best show at the point, I hope they continue it this year.
