Almost 4 years ago today...

Randomly came across the demolition of Space Spiral today on Youtube...

This video still amazes me how they took down Space Spiral and how much this area of the park changed for the better.

I know they had it all planned out very well but can you imagine if SS accidentally fell in the opposite direction? What a mess that would be!

Throwback!

They had it perfectly figured out including where the cabin would land on the beach. Pretty good work by the demo crew.

That's why there's insurance.

The adult in me loves Gatekeeper, but the child in me misses Space Spiral.

I also found it shocking that Valravn was announced 1 year ago today. Time flies!

How they knocked down Spiral is still one of the coolest things I've seen. Bam, then in few seconds, like a fell tree, all done.

Between that and how they tore out DT, fantastic stuff.

Well, turning space spiral from a vertical structure to an horizontal object only took a few seconds. However it took a little longer to clean it up, hardly all done. :-)

I miss it still, Really hoping that they will install another observation tower in the near future.

I like this footage better. ;)

Wasn't Wind seeker supposed to be the "replacement?"

Not a very good replacement since a ton of people can't ride it and you can't take pictures from it. Closest thing we have for that now is Sky Ride but technically we aren't supposed to take pictures from there.

My younger kids won't ride Windseeker because of the height. My older kids were able to ride Space spiral and got past the fear by going on it a few times. They are coaster junkies like me now.

The younger two I've been able to get them on a few taller rides but they usually are freaking out and don't get to relax and watch the ride so that they can prepare for turns and such so they get thrown around and don't want to do it again.
