All Day Drink Wristbands?

TrinDawg41's avatar

So, a couple weeks ago, my friend and I head up to CP and we found out that all day drink wristbands were available to purchase at the any of the main gates for like 8$. My friend was all over this, so he bought one. Well, we go back to CP yesterday and he tried to buy one at the main gate, and they told him they only sell them online. SO, I get back home today, and checked online, and lo and behold, there is nothing (that I can see) that says where you can purchase this, other than the ride and refresh CP ticket, which we don't need because we are pass holders...what gives? Anyone else run into this? I know KI has the all day drink wristband for purchase at any food stand in the park..

Cedar Point typically does not offer drink wristbands as a standalone purchase. They are usually offered through group sales. Perhaps there was a large group in the park on your previous trip where they did not limit sales to group participants.

Drink wristbands are the Moby Dick of CP food offerings. When you don't expect them, they will just show up. If you go looking for them, they are nowhere to be found. That, and you'll always hear stories about the time that guy saw one for sale that one day.

I wish CP would stop the shenanigans and just offer them to everyone all the time. It would solve the cup/bin/locker issue as well as fill the glaring hole in the all-day and all-season meal deals. Find your happy price point and go for it already.

No, the solution for all season dining plan purchasers is an all season soda plan. :)

If you have this years suo inert cup you can get the band for that cup for like 5 dollars at any stand

^ What?

That was probably supposed to say "souvenir cup". What I've heard on a couple occasions for both CP and other CF parks is that you can pay $5 to "reactivate" your unlimited refills for the day for the rest of the season.

I think Magnum-Man was typing that on a phone and it auto-corrected to that.

The souvenir cups can be reactivated at any drink stand for $5, and it works for 24 hours, not just that day.

^ Hmm...interesting. Why isn't this anywhere to be found? I don't get it. It's like we have to pass this info to each other. It should be on the web site or something!

Is this the wristband that was mentioned some months ago for Soak City so we don't have to carry money in to buy food and drinks?

That sounds like a prepaid wristband / gift card. This is a wristband where you pay $8-$10 and are entitled to 20oz cups of soda all day throughout the park. I'm not sure if they're valid at Soak City.

I think they should charge $8 or $9 for a wristband that is good for cups of beverage all day and make it available to everyone (not just groups). I don't want to deal with the souvenir cups. Heck, they could tie it to my season pass and make me wait 30 minutes in between each drink for all I care. I won't pay $4-5 for one drink, but I will pay a bit more to give me the option of having what I want throughout the day in a cup that I can get rid of.

They're leaving money on the table with season passholders by not offering this.

Each time I went to a Coke Freestyle shop, the attendant asked me if I wanted the $5 reactivation of the souvenir cup. So I'm guessing they are using the employee as the notification system and maybe also to gauge the profit/cannibalization of existing soda sales.

Does anyone know if this is only at Cedar Point? I have the cup from Kings Island and only got refills my first visit, the following day was $.99 which is fine put $5 for 24 hours would be so much better for me. Can I use my cup at Cedar Point or will I have to purchase a new one?

I assume it's $5 for the rest of the current day, not for 24 hours - so you probably don't want to buy it at 8PM.

They also offer this at Michigan's Adventure. Not sure about the other CF parks.

Filling KI cups at CP is not an issue and works fine.

Yeah I think the politically correct answer is that you are "supposed" to have to buy a new cup at each park. However, since all the cups look the same in terms of color and shape, I have not seen food service employees deny any refills on out of park cups.

I can see where it would be politically correct but it's just a waste for us, I could care less about having a Pipe Scream cup, it's not my thing. I don't like having to carry my cup around but it's still worth it to get the discount on drinks, although KI does offer the all day drink wristband, but now that we have the cup it's just an added expense we don't need.

I honestly don't think they care. If they did, they'd have set the barcodes up in a way that they don't work in the other parks. Someone at CP yesterday even asked me if I got it at KI and I said yes and they charged me the dollar and I refilled it with no problem.

Even at 99 cents per refill, they are still probably putting 90 cents to their bottom line. All the Meijers, Speedways, Sheetz, etc in the world have a fountain drink for around a buck. It wouldn't be that way if they didn't make money on it.

Yeah. I'm guessing the number of refills they do for out-of-park cups is probably a minority anyway. KI and CP are likely the only parks close enough that it would impact anyway.
