I was at the CP on July 22.. About a hour into waiting to get onto Maverick, all the trains stopped before entering the loading station. At that point, 3 trains were running. Before we knew it, another train came around empty. Thus I believe they added another train during the day while the ride was open. It took about 20 mins. Is this possible?
Waited for 2 hrs and I'll wait again for 2 hrs to ride this coaster!!!
Yes. This is normal on any coaster. Trains can be transferred on and off as need be. If only 3 trains were running, had it just been raining?

I've seen a train either transferred on or off (both a few times) probably half the times I've ridden. In the beginning, the were burning through a lot of wheels. Not sure if they've gotten past the worst of this or not. The last time I was there, we noticed a bunch of different types of wheels indicating they are probably doing some experimenting.

I was surprised they had only 3 trains running.. No it wasnt running at all but a big crowd.. Every ride was at hour and half to 2 hours.
last time i went i experienced the same thing...it was mid-July, and we were waiting in line for mean streak..the line hadn't moved for about 20-30 minutes, and its not my favorite ride anyway, so we decided to go ride maverick...well as soon as we left the line, we heard a train being pulled up the hill....they were loading another train (they only had one running)....we got in line for maverick, it moved a little, and it stopped....we waited in line for that one though, but again they were loading more trains....
it was kinda frustrating, but i understand...at this point it was 5-6pm, and it was getting a little busier....the delays just sorta sucked:P
This seems like an appropriate place to ask since I've been wondering all summer. Does Maverick consistently run 6 trains? I've seen the webcam every so often, usually in the mornings, and many times it looks like there is a train on the transfer track. Just curious what people have noticed. 12 days until I can ride again.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I've seen five train operation a couple times. It doesn't work so well, because when they hit interval, the second train has yet to come to a complete stop outside of the station, which causes a delay in the trains coming into the station.

They were running six when I was there on Aug 18. Well, at least there were none on the transfer, so I assume that means they were running six.
Would you like them to continue running a train when it has a mechanical problem?

They were running 6 when I was there as well (on the 29th). The line moved quite slowly (not sure if that is connected)?
Thrills Around the Corner!
The only issue of adding/removing trains on Maverick is the amount of time it takes. Pulling the train back and forth on the storage track is a very slow process.

Long transfer delays are bad especially when wheels and such require relatively frequent transfering.
Millennium Force had wheel problems so bad that it was common for a train to develop a bad wheel while another was transfered off for a bad wheel. There were times when all 3 trains had bad wheels. Then again, transfer times on MF are about 5 minutes, but about 10 if swaping trains.
