Achievement post :)

No, this isn't a post to say, "I've been on TTD a bazillion times." This is my fun post to say that earlier this season, I couldn't ride TTD because the lap belt wouldn't lock for me. That gave me inspiration to do some serious weight loss! When I was at CP a few weeks back, I was able to ride it for the very first time (and got two rides in for the weekend). Looking forward to it again at Halloweekends! Yay me! lol

TheRealCP,

Congrats! As some who has lost 105lbs, I applaud you! NOT an easy thing to do and I didn't do it to get on a ride. For you, "Goal Set, Goal Met". Great Job!

I would do the same thing for anything at CP.

That is awesome!! Congrats!! Now, what was the secret to your success? As someone who is slowly reaching the point where I won't be able to fit, I need all the advise I can get!

Stardoors,

Here is how I have done it (a number of times, so I KNOW it works):

Limit fat gram intake to 50g a day or less (you need to watch this).

Drink lots of water everyday (at least 2 quarts).

Replace high fat meals with semi high fat eats. Eat a bowl of brocolii covered in cheese instead of pizza.

Fruit. Eat it when you need to eat between meals.

Those Fat Grams again...COUNT THEM and eat less than less 50 a day. Oh, beer has no Fat Grams so it is OK. :)

That is what has worked FOR ME. I hope it does the same for you to get you on more Coasters at Cedar Point!

Great Job. I had a similair situation this year with wicked twister and mantis. I have changed my workouts and am laying off the shoulders for a while and have lost 15 lbs. You can take my waist size but not my coasters.. hehe..

Kind of lame but Dr. Phil's weightloss book is fantastic and too the point..

TTD rides =25
Time spent waiting for those rides= 46.5 hours.
MF=84

Good job... oh and by the way, coaster guy, im hoping that that is an estimate about the wait hours you waited for 25 laps on TTD... because if you kept track, you got problems, or you love cp alittle too much! ;)

------------------
TTD: 6 (Rollbacks seen: 24)
MF: 20
WT: 9

Rock on, and congratulations!

My time waiting is 99% accurate. My goal this year was to be on a rollback. I have seen it happen over 40 times now and only wish i was on one.

Stardoors,

I pretty much stuck to a 1,200 calorie diet using an "exchange" system like the Am. Heart Assoc. recommends when you have high blood pressure (I don't, but their system worked!). Then, I did a LOT of walking all summer... either at CP itself or in my area, at the mall, museums and so on.

Of course, I had this 400' motivator to keep me on track (no pun intended!). LOL

All total, I lost about 40 lbs, I think.

Mr Scott, I have a few diet questions as my weight is getting up there! How much do you exercise? Is walking enough or do I actually need to make sure I get my heart rate up for 20+ minutes a few times a week? Also, can the fruit be canned fruit or do you usually eat fresh? I usually avoid things with high fructose corn syrup. Thanks in advance!

Thanks guys! I just need to get myself motivated some more and hopefully I'll have no problems on the rides next year! :) I think it will help after graduating in December that I will be in charge of HOW I prepare my meals, instead of eating the junk in the dining hall that is all greasy and nasty. :)

Congrats on fitting into TTD! It took me all of last summer to fit into WT.

Beccaraptor, the suggested exercise amount is 30 minutes a day of cardio (aerobic) exercise. This should be for three days of the week minimum, 4-5 is actually better (and recommended by all those in the medical field). Walking at a brisk pace (2 miles in 30 minutes) is what is generally suggested.

If you drain the syrup off of canned fruit, you'll avoid most of the heavy calories. Then it's almost as good as eating the fresh fruit. I eat all kinds of fruit, canned, frozen, or fresh. The trick is to watch your portion sizes.

Good luck to all in maintaining the weight loss in the off season. TTD really helped for a goal for this year, my next season goal is to be able to buckle the WT restraint into the further back snap, rather than the one at the edge of the seat. (CP related goals work well for me.)

Awww, bad day? Take a different perspective on things. Try upside down, a barrel roll, a cobra roll or a corkscrew. Life can't be all that bad when your feet are over your head!

I must add my congratulations. Being someone who went from 335 to 210 in just over 18 months I know how triumphant it feels to lose some weight. 2000 was a great year for me as it marked my first year for both Raptor and Millennium Force.

Beccaraptor,

The only excersise I get is from walking at work and sometimes for pleasure on a nice day after work. The only time I run is if someone is chasing me.

Drinking a lot of water is very important. Fat particals leave your system in a way that if you drink a lot of water, you'll get rid of a lot of fat particals. :) Just as important is limiting the amount of fat grams that you eat daily. I went from 280lbs to 163lbs (too low, I'm 6'1") in a little over a year and a half (back in '93-'94). I'm now stable at 190lbs after reaching 240lbs a year ago. A lot of losing weight is a mind game.

Once you get your food portions down, you will be suprised at how hard it is to eat big portions. I believe your stomach actually shrinks.

I'm not saying this method is best for everyone. Only that it is what has worked for me. And remember: If you are female, it is naturally harder for you to lose weight. Guys can do it easier.

raptorgrl,

Yup - this was working off pounds over the summer to also fit on WT. It was a no-go in May, but was a sure fit in Sept. Hehe!

All,

In case you haven't been following other threads, we have a first timer joining us at CP the weekend of the 10th. This person is making the trip by air and road from Germany.

If you want to met him/or her (I really don't know) (and other GTTP'ers, I suspect), be at Dragster at 8pm Friday the 10th. The 11th at 8pm is the "rain date".

I'll repost this info in the Meetings & Gatherings area.
