Accidents

OK. . . I have read that it's "not cool" to talk trash about Cedar Point on here. . .obviously. So don't consider this trash talking. But I have been searching online for as much info I could find about CP, especially about accidents that have happened. Now. . .it seems that there are almost NO reports anywhere! Does CP publicity department just do an awesome job of keeping people quiet. . .or is it really that accident-free? Also, I have been looking for sites that have information that isn't widely known about CP. . .about anything, really. Any good sites?
CP is about as accident free as they come. I believe that last major incident that happened was back in 1999, the lift chain on Corkscrew snapped and it crumpled up in front of the train, causing some scratches.

Someone will probably post the website that has accident reports on it. I don't know what the site is, but I know that it's out there.

Several years ago, a girl with a pre-existing heart condition had a heart attack after riding Wildcat. There are a few others, but in its 132 year history, Cedar Point has had an over-all stellar accident record.

I wouldn't even say the Corkscrew incident caused scratches. It got some grease on folks at the most.

From way back when in 1999 off of this site

"According to readers in CP Place, television stations were reporting Corkscrew broke its chain Thursday. The 23-year old coaster's chain allegedly failed, slid down the lift, and caused several passengers in the train to suffer minor cuts and bruises.

The official word from Janice Lifke, Cedar Point's Public Relations Manager, is that Corkscrew's chain did indeed break. It did manage to graze a rider's arm after piling up in front of the train, but aside from a small scratch and a bit of grease, the rider was not injured. All safety measures in place did work. The rider was taken to first aid and released."

Needless to say, it wasn't a major incident or anything.

Earlier this season A couple of boats on WWL bumped into each other. No injuries were reported. Also, is the story about the girl who got scalped on Power Tower true or urban legend? Someone told me that it's been around since before '98, but I just wanna make sure.

http://www.themeparkinsider.com/accidents/ has many accident reports, either confirmed or "awaiting confirmation." Not many for Cedar Point, though.

And as far as I know, the Power Tower story is a rumor that started when the ride first came out.

The Power Tower story is urban legend. It's actually debunked at www.snopes.com. I'm just not sure where.
