If I remember correctly, the trailering axle snapped, causing it to act as a high-friction roll-back dog. Basically, it locked the train up as it was in the corkscrew.
Servo - Why will you only ride in the black train.
And also, it was in one of the 360ยบ loops.
The Demon has been in operation since 1976 (76-81 as Turn of the Century) and overall the ride has a good safety record. No one has ever been seriously injured on this ride so its not an issue. Granted, getting stuck upside down could be scary but there was a happy ending to it. This very accident could happen at CP but fortunately it hasnt.
i only ride the black train for TWO reasons...A) it has the best ride(ala Yellow on MF) and it is the one that had the accident...just feels riskier or something. Demon is a small ride and i want to milk it for all i can. Black train is just my traditional train, and since the accident, it has just cememted itself in place.

ride early, ride often!!!
Uh..excuse me Mffan...
Six Flags has the WORST safety record out of every park in the industry.Need I repeat myself again??(sorry Jeff)If you go to www.worldofcoasters.com you will click on coaster accidents..or something similar and almost every other post from 1970 on is a Six Flags accident.Cedar Point is so safety conscience even seatbelts on the Ferris Wheel.Where SfO doesnt even check height restrictions and If a young girl flashes the ride op he lets her on regardless of height.(seen it).Line cutting, smoking in the queue lines, you name it.
Cedar Point is the most well-kept safest park I have ever been to.Its the kind of place that will be around for families in the future to come.

One must point out that Six Flags in general has more parks than anyone else in the world. Looking at just one park would show that it isn't really that bad. Plus most of the accidents only happened at about five of there parks. Out of 27 that ain't bad.

Dispatch Master, This is Transport one! I'm losing control, I'm losing control!
SFGAm's Viper had an incident that sounds almost exactly like the Mean Streak accident way back when.
That depends on what you mean by "bad". it's true, though, that SF runs more parks than anyone else, so it'll probably have more accidents than anyone else ... I'd think, to be fair, you'd have to compare parks, and even then accidents would be skewed towards the parks with the highest attendance. For example, I believe there have been nine ride-related deaths at Disneyland in its 50+ year history. I can't believe there's a park out there with more than that ... at least I hope not.

Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill.
Granted Sf owns a majority of the theme parks but they should try to up their reputation just a bit don't you think?I found alot of their parks to be filthy, the clientelle a little shall we say gangsta?I mean, gosh they had to install metal detectors at a few of their parks and around the clock security against line jumpers and theft and they have the worst vandalism. There is nothing I like more then to stand in a line with my five yr old daughter and see whatshername sucks good ****.Real appropriate.I like a clean, safe park to take my family to.How bout you?

Cedar Point has more security guards and surveillance cameras in place of metal detectors. They get the same efficiency either way. When you get a big crowd you always get a few bad eggs. Did I ever tell you guys about the time One of the Soak City life guards was attacked? No? Well, if you ever see me at the park ask me about it. I will be more than happy to tell ya.
You guys are starting to sound like the peeps in RCT. The metal detectors are just precaution.

gillian0027, I dont know why you insist on bashing SF parks due to the crowds. You cant control who comes into the park if they arent doing anything wrong when entering. Granted, the metal detectors are an inconvenience but its no different than entering an airport or courtroom. Its designed to protect the GP. If CP has that problem in the future do you think they would close there doors? NO!! They would also institute metal detectors as well. SFGAm has metal detectors so does that mean everybody that resides in Chicago and the suburbs is bad news? You need to rethink what you say. My daughter is also 5 years old and I have no problem taking her there. There is no such thing as a squeaky clean place to visit anymore.

Why should I rethink what I say??
This is all from experience, not opinionated.
I have had nothing but negative feel at these parks. It could be just me but thats the way I feel.I remember going to Sf with my family years ago and there wasnt any graffiti,no metal detectors,no security guards. You made an excellant point. We need them at AIRPORTS,not family theme parks.I dont feel safe there and doing all this doesnt make it any better either.
If you chose to visit their parks,so be it,but I would rather visit Cedar Point or Knoebels or Kennywood or Hershey where the focus is FAMILY not VIOLENCE.There may have been a few bad apples that spoiled their reputation but they also have other areas in need of improvement. They should
look at Cedar Point or other parks and take something from that.Also..it wasnt the crowds I was bashing solely, their parks are dirty, their ride ops are terrible, rude, and Im waiting for another accident to happen. They dont check height, they ASSUME as if a person is on their platform then they are tall enough to ride the ride, where as Cedar Point DOUBLE checks their riders and PKI and HERSHEY check you before you enter the queue.Their restrooms are unsanitary and gross and my husband got food poisoning TWICE at two different SF parks.Now..you tell me?

Am I the only one wondering what any of this has to do with Cedar Point?
It doesnt, but this topic was brought up of an accident at SF so I stated my opinion to gillian0027. This topic should actually be closed.
I agree w/Chitown. I can't even remember what the original topic was---and I posted it!
It was about Cedar Point safety and reported accidents. Also how other parks compared to Cedar Point's safety record.
I think Cedar Point does not have Metal Detectors because they thought that they make guests uneasy and they do. They put up Surveillance cameras and extra security guards. It really does make the park feel more safe I guess.
I must admit that you will probably see a little more "problems" with CP, SFO, and PKI guests this year because of they larger more diverse crowd they have attracted this season with the new big rides.

Dispatch Master, This is Transport one! I'm losing control, I'm losing control!
Well, I disagree, MagnumisSinking. You are going to find problems at major amusementparks regardless. So, why do you assume because amusementparks are attracting a more diverse range that you assume "problems"?
WEll Ill answer that question...Linentcy(sp)
You basically can get away with ANYTHING at these parks. And the parks dont do a damn thing about it.
Granted they have signs posted"Line cutters will be ejected from park with no refund"and do they do it???NO!Cp didnt even do it when a group of kids cut in line at Magnum and the Dj threw them out. These parks are becoming soft for some apparant reason.Other people see this and they think they can get away with anything so these parks draw these kinds of people.SFGAdventure has the worst reputation this side of the Mississippi.
They had to install metal detectors, security guards EVERYWHERE and security cameras.I feel like Will Smith in Enemy of the State.Every year it gets worse. And you want to know why more people visit CP??
