That sucks more than what Mega Maid did on Druida. I hope everyone will be all right.

The News Media will be all over this one and in a bad way. The article even says its a Rollercoaster. Bastards, get your reporting right :(

I would guess our Chaos will be closed too. Look out for longer lines on Witches Wheel and Troika Troika Troika

A major accident at Michigan's Adventure Park in Muskegon. A ride called "Chaos" collapsed. We are told people on the ride are still trapped on it. There are injuries, the most serious cases are being taken to Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids. No names of the injured have yet been released
I live about 45 minutes from Muskegon and there are breaking news reports all over the place here.  From what I know a bearing broke and caused the ride to collapse.  There are 2 life threatining injures, the others only sustained minor injuries.  They have restriced air space over the park now for the Aero-Med helicoptors.  Thats all I know for now, I'll keep you updated

Oh, dear, this will certainly have an impact - I would agree that the Chaos at Cedar Point will certainly be looked at a bit more intensively, but I don't know if it would be closed because of an incident with another ride. We'll have to wait and see. My thoughts are with all those injured, praying for their safety and recovery.

From CNN.com, with pictures and a few more details:

It looks as though the ride was at full rotation when the accident happened.

From what I've read, no fatalities, no critical injuries, just two carriages trapped beneath the main boom. They were suspending it from cables to get the last four people out.

It appears that all the carriages held.

The latest I heard last night on the local news (I live in Kalamazoo, a few hours south of Muskegon) was that the last two people had finally been pulled off the ride at about 11:30. They were trapped at the bottom, upside down, are were expected to be the most seriously injured, with possibly life-threatening injuries. From the person they were interviewing, though, it didn't sound like they were expecting any life-threatening conditions.

If I recall correctly, of 36 people on the ride, only 26 had to be hospitalized, and most of them just and cuts, bruises, and maybe a broken bone or two.

This is not good for Cedar Fair at all.

Anyone going to the Point today please report whether or not their Chaos is open.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out with Chance filing bankruptcy, one of their rides having a catastrophic failure, and CF's actions following.

Next trip to CP on August 25th - 26th!
My prayers are out to those that are hurt.  Personally I think Cedar Fair will close all rides like that (don't know how many have em) to be on the safe side, since they do care about safety.  I am very glad that no one was killed; but that does hurt CF a lot.A href=
Any further details? I happened to operate that very same ride a few years ago.
*Sorry to bring this back up*
I just got back from Michigan Adventures and Chaos is all boarded up. Plywood, which is stands about 20 feet tall go around the whole ride. I saw a few workers walking into Chaos's site during the day. The ride is still there... I could make out the center of the ride(that says Chaos on it) from the Timbers.

2.Kings Island

Chaos at CP was still closed as of 8/5/2001.
Mini-Update: Well my friend Mandie was allright, she just got off Chaos before it broke. She told me she heard a breaking noise on it, but thought nothing of it. Then she was going to go back on it right afterwords, but luckily her cousin got sick on the ride (umm thank God for nausea?) and they took a break, and then the ride broke. The end.

Any word on why it broke down?
