A scary shake

Has anybody noticed that as the cars tumble down a tower on WT the track rocks back and forth at the top? It scares me that the ride is going to fall down one day.

Rule of a coaster, If it don't shake it will break.

Everything shakes. You just don't notice it so much.

This has been discussed to death...it's all in the design, it's suppose to do that. Skyscrapers do the same exact thing, but as exit said, you just don't notice it as much since they are a lot bigger and taller. I just read that some sway as much as 3 to 5 feet at the very top. So no need to worry, it's perfectly normal.

Well it used to shake a lot more than it does now. Intamin made a mistake thinking they could just making it taller and faster without making the structure stronger. That is why they added the supports to the top.

TTD's tower shakes much more violently than WT does. The pull up is really bad and the pull out is very noticeable as well.

Ah, just like those in line for Twister the one ride I've had thus far... They were royally freaking out as the track and supports swayed, thinking that that meant it was falling apart and such. If the structure had not been designed in order to be able to give way, then the forces would cause it to snap in half. As the structure was designed in order to allow swaying, it can absorb the forces much better and thus does not snap in two like a twig.

It's simple physics! ;)

If you think Wicked Twister is a scary shake, then you must think that the Mean Streak is an earthquake!

Or it is going to break off and hit a flock of seagulls. Than PETA is going to protest against CP for killing a protected species.

I'd be more concerned about the cars that are "tumbling down the tower..." ;)

After working Wicked Twister for the summer, you would not believe the number of guests that came up to me to make sure that I knew the tower was shaking and to let me know it should be shut down and looked at.

I was like it is supposed to sway.

The Cedar Point Maint. department knows what they are doing, the rides would not be allowed to open unless they are safe.

Oh I can imagine dude, that is solely because people do not think about the safety features that go into constructing a ride. Most don't bring their common sense to Cedar Point, but there are people who never seen anything like wicked twister before in their lives.

Are these the same people that call WT, Twisted Sister??

As well as the people who ask why Wicked Twister is only running 1 train.

Like, um hello, where's there room for another train? Oh, one on top of the other? hehe

Imagine how long wait times would be if we had to keep transferring trains on and off, just so that there could be 2 of them.

Acctually, it might make the hourly capacity slightly higher if they could transfer trains like Mr. Freeze at Six FLags St. Louis. While one train is running the track, the other is being loaded. When the train comes back into the station, it is shifted over to the other load station while the loaded train is shifted into the launching position. It think it makes the wait faster.
