A Few Questions?

My sis Had the OTSR fly up on Michigans Adventures Corkscrew years ago (probably late 80s). I was sitting behind her at the time, I saw it fly up. I never had any issues at CP. But its the exact same type of restraint on CPs Corkscrew so it is possible I suppose.

My Mom said that the lapbar was still up when they were going up the first hill. She said she yelled for help and no one paid attention. She kept screaming for help up the lift hill which is when Mr. Strongman forced the lapbar down. This was in the 60s or 70s and she said that safety checks were not common practice back then.

Holy crap! Thats really scary. My only restraint problems have been on Appolo's Chariot in BGE when it would click up one on the way up the third hill. But thats only when the ride attendant was overly cautious and pushed it down until you can't breath.

This past weekend on Raptor, my harness clicked up a notch on the lift. The OTSR was super tight and as I came out of the station it released a notch. I was terrified the rest of the ride. The expression on my face in the video was priceless.

If a harness is barely one click down, it can slip up one. I've seen it happen on every ride that uses the ratchet system.

Right, if the ratchet is almost but not totally engaged it will slip up one notch, but only one notch. No big deal and nothing at all to worry about.

And the only reason it moves up usually on first drop is because that's where all your weight is on the harness.

Oh thanks. I'm glad it isn't a harrness failure.

Does anybody know more of the story related to the first video? That is a truly scary sight to see the coaster getting away with a lot of the OTSR's totally open... I saw some loops later on but fortunately didn't see anybody "fall out". I hope nobody was injured from this incident.

I always would get a new DVD at CEDAR POINT every other year because there are so many new Coasters, Rides, and Attrations. I would be missing one each yr, but I would miss a Ride or Something if I didn't buy one.

I would like to know if I should wait till 2010 to get a New DVD because there will be New Ride or Something in the Park?

Last season I was riding raptor in the front and just as the train finished its climb and released from the chain my support clicked forward. Of course I was okay, but it scared the poop out of me!
