I had a few questions. Im going on a class trip on June 11 (Gemini 100 Day, all the other rides will have shorter waits yeah) and i was wondering what would be a good roller coaster start off a friend of mine whose never been on a roller coaster, I was thinking Iron Dragon what do you think.
And also how have the crowds been this last week (June 4) Thanks alot for your help see on the 11th)
I would not do Iron Dragging. I would go big but not too big. Gemini is a good choice I'd say.

Crady Crady!! CRADY CRADY!!
What about Blue steak !?
I wouldn't go gemini too much air time for a first timer
Honestly i would say Gemini..would be the best one..(thats how i started out) and now I am hooked!
WOW...a coaster virgin..that's even better then taking Kelly and Brian for first rides...lucky dude.
First rides...if the guy can handle height I agree that Gemini would be a good start. If he can't, why not try CCMR? Or, take him around the park and let him pick. He will probably be able to tell what will work right off or not better than you can judge. :)
I miss Force :(

The thing that helped me get over my fears was being forced on to Mantis. I was afraid of both heights and inversions, but my friends forced me on it swearing that I'd have a good time. I did. Mantis was the newest rollercoaster at Cedar Point at the time and (at least I thought) the biggest, so after I got off the ride I knew I could face Raptor, Corkscrew (I was VERY scared of inversions), and Magnum (heights).
Anyway, I'd say that if you are really good friends (so he'll do what you want him to), have him ride a small ride first w/o inversions (Blue Streak), then a bigger ride w/o inversions (Gemini), and finally a big looping coaster (Mantis or Raptor). That's what got me hooked.

There's only one proper way to get someone on a coaster...
LIE to them!!
I chaperoned my daughter's 6th grade field trip to HersheyPark last week. She has a friend who "doesn't like any ride with a drop".
Well, my daughter and other friends told her that Great Bear doesn't have a drop (we approached the ride from the back of the park).
When she got off the ride (does this sound familiar?) she wanted nothing more than to get back on again.
LIE!! ;)

Coming soon to a park near Sandusky!
Iron Dragon was my first "real coaster" with the exception of mine ride. I can say that it cured me of any coaster fears. I also rode it when it was brand new and the talk of the park. I felt very brave to be riding the big new ride that year!

There's a fungus among us
My first coaster was the original corkscrew at Knott's Berry Farm. I followed that up with Revolution and Colossous at Six Flags. Can you imagine being scared to ride the Arrow Corkscrew?
I'd have to agree with CP Irvine. Go to the CCMR first. After the confidence building of that ride it is a short walk to Gemini. Then you can head around to the Corkscrew from the Magnum side where the loops are not visible. Sneak him/her onto the Screw and then after three coasters maybe they are ready for the big boys. I'd put Mantis towards the end. It is more of a scare than Raptor, IMHO.
Good luck!
Tell him how many times you've rode it without being hurt and that Cedar Point is one of the safest parks in the nation, ect.
Good Luck!

Put me in for CCMR also. It was my first coaster and, thinking back, it was a perfect way to start. If they find it tame, they'll probably say something like "that wasn't too bad, let's go on something bigger". If you start of with something that will scare them, they might be scared away from coasters for a long time.
I could go either way on this one...
CCMR would be a good first ride if your friend is apprehensive about riding something really big. If they're up for trying things, I'd say Raptor! Yeah, yeah I know you're wondering "what's he thinking??" but that was my first "big" coaster, and I've been hooked ever since! Not to mention, it's smooth, you'll want to take them on a ride that's not gonna throw them around a lot for their first.

"Did I mention that..."
If you are tring to get someone over their fear of coasters, going from the CCMR to Gemini might be too drastic of a jump. CCMR is pretty tame and they might be using that experience to compare to the others. I think the Blue Streak is a great coaster to start someone out on. It's not too tall, is pretty fast for it's size, and would give them a really good first time experience of air time. I think you then could give your friend a more scaled comparison of the other coasters then. But that is just my opinion.

I would have to say Blue Streak also, then maybe disaster Transport? And just gradually work them up. Tell them that nothing is going to happen to them and if they don't like it you'll buy them lunch or something. I had someone I brought to Cp that hadn't been on coasters so I eventually blindfolded them and just didn't tell her what ride we were in line for. She was a good sport about it though.
if you take someone that you aren't sure will ride everything to cedar point, they must me a great friend :)
A good starter coaster is Mine Ride or Woodstock Express. Then perhaps Iron Dragon and Disaster Transport. If they ride those four they are ready to figure out what they can handle for themselves.
