A few questions...

1. The train for WT, how does that get attached to the track, or does it come as a piece?

2. How does the LIM work?

3. off topic...what the heck is that coral red track doing at knotts berry farm??? ( i think its there...)

the red track at knott's berry farm is the track for their new coaster which is coming in 2002.
Linear Induction Motors (LIMs) use Magnets to propel and stop the cars.  Magnets are installed both on the track as well as the car.  The magnets then pull and push the train using the basic magnet polarities.  Wicked Twister will not be a perfect "U".  There will be launch area for the train to gain speed.  Although I may have this confused with a LSM (Superman: Ride of Steel) I think it's the same basic concept.

Here's a technical description of how LIMs work.

To attach a Wicked Twister car, the chasis is raised with a fork lift or some other other device. The wheels are loaded in place on the rails are bolted on.

Then the arm that holds each set of 2 seats is raised up to the car and bolted on. Maintenance will connect all the wires and inspect the car. After the entire train is completed in this manner, the train is ready to go.

The odd thing about installing trains on an Impulse is that the guide and upstop wheels have to be removed from each car before it can be placed on the track. With no nearby end point to slide the cars on at (such as a storage track or transfer table), this is the only option available.

The chasis for each car will most likely be installed well before the rest of the car is bolted to it. This was done with SUE to test the clearance on each car's fin against the LIM's long before any test runs were actually performed.

That's one of the most remarkable things to me. The clearance for the fins is tiny, and they go flying through there at 70mph+. That's Swiss engineering, baby!

If you go to Cedar Point, take a camera...that way, you can take pictures of anything interesting if you see the construction site. That is, of course, with CP's permission.
