68 rides?

I was working on my website and I got a list of all of the rides currently operating at the park. I noticed that the train in the Peanut's Playground and the Snoopy Bounce were not included in the list.

I can understand the playground, and maybe Snoopy Bounce. As discussed before (by Jeff) the blower, compressor, or whatever has a mechanical value, which is part of the definition of a "ride." I still would not personally consider it a ride. Although if you sit in thier while air blows in and out, it could be a ride (a very boring one).

Does CP count their water slides as ride and PT as 4 or 1?
Power Tower counts as two.

No... Cedar Point counts it as two. I still consider it one.

I get the distinct feeling that Cedar Point is starting to use the PKI accounting method.

Is the rock climbing wall also counted as a ride??

Well if CP can count Power Tower as 2, then PKI can count The Racer as 2. On PT, one shoots up, the other goes up then drops. On Racer, one goes backwards, the other goes forward. Two very different rides. So PKI has 13 coasters. Wow, they're tied with CP for next year with 14 then. PKI should say unless CP counts PT as one, they can still count Racer as 2. I agree that Power Tower gives two different rides. And that Racer gives two different rides and has a different layout. So,two coasters.

...or not since CP has Gemini, and if they were using the PKI method of counting, then they could count Gemini as 2 as well.
There is a difference between Gemini and Racer. In Gemini, you get the exact same riding experience no matter what train you ride in, except for the fact that you're inside or outside on certain curves, depending on what train you're in. In Racer, you can go forward or backward, which gives you a totally different riding experience.
Maybe, but it's still the same exact course on the same exact structure. You can turn trains backwards, sideways, perpendicular, anyway you want, but in the end you still end up with the same layout and the same ride. We have enough controversy going on about what even constitutes a coaster without adding into the mix how many coasters we can count out of one. If that's the case, all boomerangs should count as 2 because they go forward; that's 1 ride. And they go backward; that's 2 rides. QUIT BEGGING AND FORGET IT!! It's simple; 1 structure = 1 name = 1 ride

The Backwards Racer, The Foreward Racer. Huh? They don't call it like Gemini 1 and Gemini 2 do they? At IOA, they always count Ice Dragon and Fire Dragon as two different coasters. On Racer, going backwards and going forewards are two different coaster experiences. 2 coasters. Just because 3 water slides are right next to eack other, but one have 1 slope, one has 2 slopes and the thirdhas 3 slopes, does that mean one slide, I don't think so. What if they decided to add a floorless coaster train to Mantis, but still left on a stand-up train. Would you count that as 1 or 2 roller coasters? I would say 2. To have a roller coaster doesn't just count in the track. You need the train to make the coaster what it is. If a track didn't have a train would you still call it a roller coaster. The words roller and coaster deal more with the train than track. Think about that. Or don't think at all. I don't care. But being ignorant won't cut it.

*And* in Gemini, you can't really perfer one over the other. It's the same ride. In Racer and Dueling Dragons, there's choice and opinions of which you like better. *** This post was edited by Mr."Coaster"E on 1/10/2001. ***
Hey Walt, I got a list from the park from Town Hall and it lists Power Tower as two rides. You are also didn't list the Bumper Boats.

WHAT ABOUT THE TRAIN IN THE PEANUT'S PLAYGROUND?

The Train. AHA. That should be 69. Has Cedar Point and everyone here (besides Dan) overlooked that? There is no disputing it is a ride since CP & LE is one.

I prefer Blue on the Gemini, because the clearance is lower, and I prefer banking right at the end. Reminds me of MF.

I've got the bumper boats at #50 and the train in Peanut's Playground at #41. I suppose if I swap another Power Tower for #41, I get the same number.

like your original list, it works.

Here is the definition of a ride
"A device, such as one at an amusement park, that one rides for pleasure or excitement"

Yeah, that cleared things up. That means the red light district over in Amsterdam has the most rides.

CP counts PT as 2, yet not Peanuts express as 1 even though CP & LE RR counts as one, which is more or less the same ride as Peanuts Express.

Huh?

Also Gemini included Snoopy Bounce on his list, so that means there is still one missing.

Either way, the least number we end up with is 68. In Theory, we could have 70.

I am so confused, I can't sleep
Ok, I thought the train was called something else, I didn't know that it was called Peanuts Express.

So what you're saying is that if you turn one of Gemini's trains backwards, then you have 2 completely different ride experiences (i.e. PKI's Racer), thus making it count as 2 coasters.

Forgive me, but that's what we refer to in fast-pitch softball as PUS! *** This post was edited by Superstew on 1/12/2001. ***
