I did a quick search for threads regarding the cheap cotton candy last year. CP seemed to make a big deal out of it at first, but there were countless threads about there being no carts on the midways due to bugs/other reasons. However, at the end of the year, CP reported that things had gone well with the sales?
That being said, do you think it will be back this year? I wonder if it will continue or not, seeing as it does cost money to pay an employee to stand at a cart all day. Especially when they are selling a really cheap product. It makes sense to move it to the concessions buildings except for super-busy days, but then who is aware that it's only $.25? If it is mainly in the concessions again, I can see it returning to full price. The people who are seemingly "the market" for this sort of thing are the ones who see the carts, notice it's cheap, and buy some even though they normally wouldn't. Without the carts, what's the point?

The problem with the carts is that they have cotton candy just sitting out in the open. BUGS, BUGS, and more BUGS.
I hope it returns, the whole 25 cent price made it fun to eat.

Despite the lack of locations, it seemed to be a pretty big hit. I'd look for it to return.

Yeah, I remember hearing people ask and seemed really popular. So my guess is they will have it return.
At Winter SOAR, someone asked Maureen is KI was getting 25 cent cotton candy. She said KI was not getting it, and then turned to Tony and asked him. He said Cedar Point was not going to have 25 cent cotton candy this year, either.

That is sad if it is indeed true that .25 Cotton Candy is not returning. Since I never bought Cotton Candy at the park before it was a quarter, does anyone know what the normal price is?

The 25c Cotton Candy had to be one of the best amusement park decisions of all last year. Cotton Candy makes people happy and the fact that it was only a quarter really made it an awesome value. It wasnt as big as a normal cotton candy but was well worth 25 pennies. I will miss it dearly

That made me think of a funny quote: “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t.”
:)
It's the inflation. It's going to be 50 cents, now, Plus tax.

The 25-cent cotton candy was a great idea, but in practice it had some problems. First came the bugs. Then came the other bugs that turned cotton candy into Cotton Candy Surprise. Then came the humidity that made the stuff just melt . Then came the carbohydrate spills on the coasters brought on by people overindulging in the stuff.
It was a great idea, but it had logistical problems that really are not fixable. Making the whole park into a very sticky mess was just not what they had in mind when they came up with the idea.
That said, what I don't understand is why they haven't decided to replace toe $0.25 cotton candy with some other midway treat. How about $0.50 popcorn instead?

The bug-and-weather argument doesn't hold water for me. Whether cotton candy is 25 cents or $1.99, people are still going to buy it. Cotton candy is a staple of carnivals and amusement parks, and people will seek it out as an experience-specific purchase. It might sell at lower levels, but whether 10,000 units are sold in a day, vs only 2,000, it's still going to face the same bugs, humidity, etc. I don't 'cotton' to this line of thought.

Well, the bugs were more of an issue for the cotton candy carts, not so much the enclosed concession stands. The humidity was also an issue for the carts.

Then simply don't sell it from carts. Install a few more machines at walk-up concessions. Problem solved.

I'm with you Mike. If the 25 cent stick-o-candy wasn't working due to humidity and the like, then put the 25 cents worth of cotton candy in a bag and sell it for a quarter.
There's no such thing as "premium" cotton candy - more expensive != humidity and bug resistant.

Nukes!
Kidding.

I agree with Ensign... I had my fair share of Cotton Candy last season, but never from a cart. Heck, I never even saw a cart. I always went to the Confection Connection to enjoy my sugary treat.

If it were just the humidity and bugs, they could continue to sell in the concessions like they did last year the last couple of months.
Cheap cotton candy meant people really DID purchase more of it than they would at $1.99 (or however much it costs). I know I ate a lot more cotton candy than I have ever before. It meant a lot more sticky cones everywhere and a lot more people getting sick on rides.
But I do agree, it was a great idea and it would be nice if they had some other "cheap treat" to replace it.
