What a smart idea this was for the park. When I go to an amusement park, I rarely (if ever) get cotton candy. Yesterday, I was there and spent 75 cents on cotton candy. Every cotton candy booth that I saw had a line at it throughout the day. Cedar Point is going to make a killing on cotton candy this summer. If, on average, every guest spends 50 cents a day on cotton candy, and there are, on average, 20,000 people in the park per day, that's $10,000 a day on cotton candy. Cedar Point will be open to the public for 177 days this season. Based on the above numbers, Cedar Point could make $1.75 million in cotton candy sales alone. Good investment? I'd say!

Yep, I never buy anything from CP except hot dog on-a-stick let along cotton candy. Yet even I bought some yesterday. Good job CP!

I'm a big fan of the cheese on the stick.Do they still have those?Becauase last time I was their there was 3 places where they had it.We used to call it ''heart attck on a stick"
I was looking all day long (at the park from 7:30am to 10:30pm and I never saw one of the mobil carts all day. :( Oh well. Maybe next time. :) I supose I could have gone to one of the permanent locations to buy it, but that just didn't seem as fun.
Also not nearly everone will buy Cotton Candy. You certainly won't see every person buying 2 sticks of candy each. I saw about 2 dozen or so people eating cotton candy throughout the day. Which was way more than I can recall in the past, but maybe I just wasn't paying attention before. Other than us, I'm wondering how many people are actualy know that it is 25 cents?

Maybe I was just in the wrong part of the park.

I don't know; I was just a little shocked that it was selling so well.

I had two dollars worth of cotton candy. Yes, that's eight cones for those who can't do math. wink wink
See, it's people like CPGuru who make my average numbers work out correctly. ;)
The only problem with all this cotton candy is that I probably won't fit on Millennium Force by the end of the season if I keep eating it at this rate. :)

No lie, my hubby ate 5 things of cotton candy today! He loves the stuff! :)
We also saw tons of lines at each cotton candy stand..feel bad for those employees once bee and ant season is in full swing!!

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?
I loved the 25 cent cotton candy!!! This was a great idea for Cedar Point.

Its a good size Cotton Candy for 25cents.
I own a party rental business and we have cotton cady machines for rent and we sell the supplies. Cedar Point prob gets a discount for supplies but we pay $3.50 per carton (60 servings) of Sugar and $19.00 per 1000 cones
Thats only $.08 per serving in food cost. Thats still a good idea for CP!

I'd say its a normal portion, well worth the $.25.

Yeah, the portion seemed pretty good for a quarter. Plus, what a great idea it was to spin it right on the midway so that the smell of it will attract people to buy it.

The mobile stands that I saw were both pretty busy. The one is next to the car ride across from Skyhawk. Another was actross from "Toot Sweets" next to the Millennium Force lift hill and tunnels. In smaller print the signs say "limit 2 per transaction." I'm sure that there are more around the park.
I loved how each one had 3 people working them... They don't even having 3 people on some rides... :)

Well, you need three people to control the crowed if a riot eruptes. That's how busy the machines got yesterday.
Jason, I think anyone who has read an article about the 2006 season will know that cotton candy is 25 cents. In fact, I'm basically sick of reading the "new for '06" type articles because in every single one of them, the 25 cent cotton candy is mentioned. So, that's just another reason why I'm glad that the season has started...
