Myself, like some other I know on here, have been collecting these wall maps for many years. Curious if any of you have seen the new design/ layout for 2025 featuring Siren's Curse? I'm underwhelmed to say the least. It appears the park changed their computer program for making these and they now have a more "Six Flags" feel. I'm disappointed in the appearance of these compared to the old design. Attaching link below. Your thoughts?
PS. Yes, I win the award for the longest link ever posted on Pointbuzz.
I want to say there was previously a period from about 2000-2003ish where the map quality also took a conspicuous step backwards, which I think was the result of using the simplified version from the in-park paper maps, for the souvenir maps, before things went back to about where they were in 2004.
The wall map from the eBay link looks like what I would've expected to see for a heavily simplified in-park map, complete with an excess of blank space for labels and whatnot. I can't see it being intentional minimalism though I could see some executive trying to argue that it is. The fact that it's being sold as a souvenir wall map is just kind of irritatingly cheap and yet another little bit of charm cutting that's not very encouraging for the post-merger park.
Wow, after clicking the link that was even worse than I was excepting even with the warning. The lack of any sort of elevation to the rides besides that awful shadow effect makes this feel completely flat and devoid of life.
I actually though the >2000 Maps were a little to cartoony with the exaggerated pointy first hills of rides and strange depictions of ride layouts, but this sterile blueprint feel jumped the ship in the complete opposite direction.
This 92ish map I thought was always the sweet spot, basically a birds eye view from the center of the park with everything feeling relative to scale, yet still has the hand drawn charm to it. .
