So most of the typical special events at CP have been given dates for 2019. Some notable changes and things that caught my attention:
- Forbidden Frontier will be opening Memorial Day Weekend. This confirms why the park was advertising it as "Coming Summer 2019" instead of opening day.
- CoasterMania tickets will go on sale on January 24, 2019. I would also like to put out a reminder of a rare occurence: HoliWood Nights at HW and CoasterMania will be held on different weekends in 2019, so enthusiasts can go to both if desired.
- Brew & BBQ is becoming Frontier Festival and will run June 7-30. While the details are vague, it sounds like there will be added entertainment to expand the event. Food and beer samples will still be present.
- Dive-In Movies are running June 27 - August 15. This is a noticeable decrease in availability, as they used to run every single Thursday that Shores was open. I'm wondering if it's due to lack of popularity or the fact that many of the early ones got washed out by rain this year.
- Coaster Campout is moving to June 29-30, as opposed to late May when it was held this year. Tickets go on sale March 20, 2019.
- Light Up The Point is expanding to include July 4, 5, and 6. This is obviously to accommodate the expected increase in attendance on the entire weekend with Independence Day falling on a Thursday in 2019. VIP Tickets go on sale May 15, 2019.
- Cedar Point Nights will run from July 12 - August 18, so it won't start until a week after Independence Day Weekend. This was a surprise to me, as with the 10pm closing times on weekdays, there wouldn't be enough time for actual "night" activities on the beach. They should be able to keep the lights on so that any Breakers guests can lounge on the beach before heading to bed, but any of the activities involving staff (Disco Headphone renting, DJ, etc.) might be restricted to the park's closing times. Of course, this won't be a problem on Friday and Saturday nights, but it's just something to keep in mind.
VERY NICE... I like to have this spread out beforehand. Especially CoasterMania! It always seemed like tickets were an afterthought, just kinda thrown out there whenever. Kings Island has had Coasterstock tickets on sale really early for the last couple years and you could even register ahead of time and get your shirt & lanyard etc in the mail to skip the on-site registration process. I’d love to see CP do something like that.
Also glad to see Brew & BBQ will be back during CoasterMania where it belongs!
