2014 Fast Lane Question

Hello all!

Haven't made it out to the park yet (hopefully I will in the next couple weeks), and was wondering if CP finally revamped the design of their Fast Lane passes? The one's from KI last year were pretty sweet in design, and my friends and I were having a discussion of if Cedar Point would update their design or stick to the same as last year. I argued(hoped)they updated 'em from the simple one-color, black and white logo.

Thanks!

Oh to be a fly on the wall during your discussions...

That said, I haven't a clue.

They are so exceedingly riveting....

We had been discussing our yearly start-of-season pilgrimage to CP and if we were going to get Fast Lanes. Being engineers and decently competitive people, it was only natural that we had to find some little detail to have different opinions on. :)

I need enlightened; what did Kings Island's look like? These are wristbands, correct?

Its pretty tough to describe. I obviously didnt keep mine, so I dug around online and found a picture of one http://i.imgur.com/6IXqoLE.jpg

They are far more colorful and intricate in design than the ones CP uses.

I used FastLane Plus at Kings Island yesterday. The wristband was blue and had the Drop Tower logo and a graphic of the park. The FastLane Plus logo was there, too, in bright yellow. Whenever we approached a FL entrance the op would stop and ask to see out wristbands, would say something like "Drop- Blue, thank you" and let us in. Each time there was some sort of visual and verbal verification.

Obviously, the color and design is different for regular FL, and the color and design for both change on a daily basis.

CP's FL wristbands in the past have been plain colored bands. I'm not sure why anyone would care about the difference, but the more detailed the design the less likely someone is to duplicate it.

It's not so much duplication they are worried about, but reuse. I.e. they swap the rides/colors around so that that "drop/blue" combination won't likely show up again until later in the year (if at all). They obviously don't want you buying it one day then taping it back up and using it again another day.

If you look at the whiteboards in the ride offices, they usually have that day's ride/color listed for FL and FL+.

Im sure they aren't worried about duplication (they are printed on Tyvek, which if I recall needs a pretty specialized printer), and the re-use issue im sure has been abused by people keeping them over the long run of the season and just happening to be in the park when the same scheme was used.

BUT! Im just wondering for aesthetics reasons, thought they were a bit bland compared to other parks.

Mainly, I haven't gotten my rollercoaster kick this year and have always found the small details of things interesting.

I can't imagine there's a big problem with re-use. I mean, to be able to have one from earlier in the season that works (ride/color) on a day later in the season, you either bought a bunch of fast lanes, or you're really lucky.

Yeah, thats what I would think, you would have to A: Go to the park often, and still buy a pass, and B: Continually go to the park and buy all the colored passes (if so, the park has made more than enough off of you), or go until the pass returns. Even then, dont they have serial numbers on them?

It would be totally foolish to do. If you got caught, no more Cedar Point (and other legal issues).

They do have numbers and barcodes on them, but in three years, I have never had anything but a cursory visual check done. That, and I've never seen any equipment for the merge host to use if they did want to scan/authenticate them.

I'm guessing that they simply feel there's not that much of a problem, and they make enough $$ off FL as it is. In other words, there's no need to add in extra overhead to solve a problem that doesn't really exist.

I guess thats fair. I can't see anyone really trying to game the system with them, they aren't THAT expensive.

This was at Disney World, not Cedar Point, but there were locals who would pick up discarded ERT wristbands so that they could tape them up and use them next time the color scheme came around. They bragged about having the complete set online.

That is just sad, and rather stupid. They have to realize that they are only hurting the park that they go to, and that if they get caught they will never set foot in the place again.
