As we've spent a good amount of time @ CP this season, we'd like our last visit to be memorable. We'll attend regardless of potential weather conditions. I've read some past posts, that are quite general(un-specific). In recent years-what has been considered special in regards to events(for closing day)? CP hasn't updated the event site in regards to this yet. Does anybody have a special memory to share or suggestion? Is it safe enough to assume the general crowd will be local enthusiasts?
Keep passing the fun along!
It can be pretty crowded. In recent memory, there haven't been any special events to differentiate closing day from any other HW Sunday... unless you count weather. We've had some BAD closing Sunday weather in recent years, rain or high winds, both of which shut down nearly all the rides.
We will be there, only because it has become a tradition. I like to close out the year on Magnum, not sure why, it's a favorite but not the best coaster. Maybe cause it's near the resort exit where my RV still sits, plugged in, in the campground. Last one to leave, every year!
I wonder if the last day being after Halloween with it stated that HalloWeekends attractions will not be available will affect crowds? I'll probably try to go. I'm not sure if I've ever been there on closing day before. If I was it would have been back in the 90's but it doesn't stick out in my memory.
Last year they had the golden ticket awards thing for Gemini. Crowds weren't so bad.
Going to miss closing weekend this year. Bummer.
I think the thing on Gemini was for John's retirement.

It's been a great year for us enjoying CP. We've learned to just enjoy our day & have fun. I'm not looking for a 'dream date' with CP-even though it sounds good! You know-the day where a poor forecast was predicted, crowds were low, sun opened up-and he park was free range just for us! LOL. I'd like to hear peoples past(good or bad) memories of closing day.Our final(season) ride will be MF, at dusk :)
Keep passing the fun along!
Yes, last year they had the golden tickets for the last ride on gemini as part of sending John out and welcoming Jason in. Weather was slightly on the cold side, and crowds were pretty light which lead to a good day. I'm planning on going again this year unless I get slammed with quizzes/tests/exams the following week

Been there the whole weekend 3 times for closing weekend. Friday and Saturday are typical. Except each Saturday night we went it was 32 degrees at midnight. Rode Maverick in the snow the one time. Not heavy snow. Heavy coats, gloves, hats are a must. Sunday the closing day has always been the best day for us. The hotel and camper village kick everyone out. No hotel guests to contend with. All 3 trips we got to walk on to just about everything. Maybe wait 5-10 minutes a few times. Get to ride all the big coasters before diner. Usually after diner and having been there the whole weekend we are satisfied and leave. The houses still open but the outdoor walkthroughs do not.
If you like to spend money in the arcade like my wife does keep this in mind. Check out the prize inventory before you play. The won't continue to restock prizes just to unstock them. Thus the only prizes will be the worthless junk and the expensive stuff nobody really ever takes home. It will all be picked through.
Is merchandise discounted on closing day to try to clear inventory?
