I was unable to find any 2008 Souvenir Maps in the gift shops while making my yearly park visit back in June. Only one employee at the Pagoda even knew what I was talking about when I asked for the map. She said that they haven't been printed yet, but I don't know if that is true. I found one shop near the Demon Drop that was selling the old 2007 map for $1.00.
This is the first time in the last 25 years that I haven't been able to buy the map and I was wondering if anyone has seen them in the gift shops within the last couple of weeks. It's pretty cool looking at the old maps to see how the park has changed over the years and it would be shame if they decided to quit selling them.
I unknowingly bough a 2007 map earlier this year. I already had 2 from 2007.
Does anyone know then they started printing souviner maps? The oldest one I have is from 1969.

We bought a map, but didn't even think about which year it was from. Ours has an ad for Maverick "new for 2007" on the back side of one fold. Does that make it a 2007? What would be the difference between 2007 and 2008? Are there any changes/new rides?

bad, but thinking makes it so. --Hamlet
The addition to the park for 2008 is Planet Snoopy. If it is on your map, it is a 2008.
I was unable to find one either, and I sent a e-mail to Cedar Point asking about them. They sent me one that was distributed at the entrance. I sent a more detailed question and was told it was being forwarded to the correct department. I am still waiting for a responce.

The park is always trying to get rid of those things. At the employee merchandise sale in August of '04 they just had a box that said "Take One"... and there were thousands of those things...
When I bought a CP polo last year, I got a map stuck in the box with the polo.

They have them now. I saw someone with a souvenir map with a Planet Snoopy back fold either yesterday or the day before.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
This seems to be the norm every year. They don't have the maps for the first few weeks (in this year's case, a month or more) of the season.
They will always sell the souvenir maps. The most expensive part of making them is having the artwork updated to include the most recent additions to the park, and they already have to do that for the guides that are given out at the front gate. Why not sell the maps and help cover the cost of printing millions of guides?
