2003 Season: The Good, The Bad, and TTD

Here I go again with another one of my memory topics. Feel free to tell everyone what your best and/or worst memory of the 2003 season was, and your reflections on Top Thrill Dragster, and what you look forward to in 2004!
My favorite memory was running down the midway at 9:30 am towards TTD to get my 1st TTD ride ever with only a 1 1/2 hour wait on Memorial Day weekend.

The good:

Too many! The highlights include riding TTD opening day, meeting Robert, and riding 15 roller coasters in one day! Also, the biggest good thing was probably all the beautiful international girls I got to meet and hang out with. First time I have been a Playa!

The bad:

The responce from a guy who looked like he was using the area under the Gemini station as a restroom.

Being called an #&^hole when I reported a group of line jumpers.

The TTD:

10 rides. 1 in the front!
------------------
Avalanche Run - My first Roller Coaster.
Magnum XL-200 - The BEST Roller Coaster!

New Profile Photo, now with Magnum Robert!

The good:
The one day I went on Physics day I went with all my friends... although a 12 person group is hard to keep together, that was the most fun I've had all year with that group of people :)

The bad:
Running solid from the entrance to Dragster on our Physics class visit, but then discovering the ride is closed.

The TTD:
Doesn't exist... didn't have a chance to ride :(

The Good: 2 Road trips out to CP this year(From NYC). A total of 8 visits to CP. I wasnt expecting to make it out this many times. It was amazing.

The Bad: TTD was down 7 out of the 8 times i was at CP. Waiting a total of 15 hours during my 2nd trip, for TTD. Throughout the 4 day trip.

The TTD:

3 Rides. 2 times in the front. One hell of a ride.

Good: Got to ride all coasters in one day this year exept TTD -_-. Didn't get the the point much but got there the this past saturday for the last train of the night on raptor(in poring rain but it's all good being the last ride of year) but getting off and hearing the ride crew with the microphone on, riding raptor screaming and laughing ,it was pretty funny.

Bad: Not getting to the point as much as I wanted to everyone always backed out on me at last minute.

TTD: Not being able to ride TTD after about 10 rollbacks yelling while getting out of line "Get your 25 million back" and the line worker saying in the loudspeaker " i know it makes a good lawn decoration".I was lucky enough to get 1 ride in this year it was a good ride though.

Good: "re-opening" TTD on the 4th of July in the front seat with all those people cheering(just kinda had to be there). Getting the last ride of the season on magnum.

Bad:Losing my cell phone on Raptor (never found it). The saturdays during halloweekends!

TTD:12 rides, two in front seat, 2 rollbacks

------------------
TTD Laps-12. 2-rollback 2 frontseat
"The Day Is Mine!"

The good: Getting the MF last ride of the season

The bad: Long lines on Gemini

The TTD: Seeing 20 rollbacks in two days

The Good: My first trip to Halloweekends, just seeing TTD launch and getting on it first in my family, first time in Silver Dollar Cafe, Magicomedy, Harbor Belle, cheese on a stick and finding these boards, Dragster Cup, Kinzel's autograph!

The Bad: Pharoh's secret, rainy day while in Soak City, Schwabinchien (spelling) gone, Huge crowd at Halloweekends, leaving.

TTD: 4 rides, no wait over 1 1/12 hours.

The Good: Getting in a half hour early(Breakers Express) about to get on Dragster in the front seat after only 15 minutes and seeing a wave of people running towards dragster once the gates opened.(My Bachelor Party)

The Bad: Crowds over halloweekends

The Ugly: Losing my $300.00 Eddie Bauer glasses while hanging out the car window half naked while flying down the turnpike screaming at my friends in the car next to us.(Wife not to happy with me)

The good: Went 28 times... met a bunch of people & made a new best friend... rode the hell out of Magnum.

The bad: On every trip... "Road Construction Ahead" every twenty seconds in Michigan... at its worst, I drove through 8 construction zones on I-75 for the 80 miles I'm on it... crazy.

TTD: 12 rides. No rollbacks.

The Good: Going on the Friday before school started and finding all but 2 rides, MF and TTD, having only 15 minute waits throughout the day.

The Bad: Going on a good weather Halloweekend Saturday and having to wait in superlong lines for everything. Also, not waiting to ride TTD on opening day, then waiting ~3-4 months until I had my chance.

TTD: Great ride, got to ride twice.

Cedar Point Googlism

Mozilla may have taken two years to reach v1.0, but it is more stable and secure than IE will ever be.

Guess I should add my own, since I started it..lol

The Good: me and Voodoo doing a "brisk" opening day run to TTD, while beating five of our friends who were in front of us to it...Coastermania boarding passes, one of which was used for my first front-seat ride on TTD, closing day, and of course, the great memories...

The Bad: Halloweekends themeing, Werwolf Canyon, auto-speils on almost every ride.

TTD: 11 rides total this season. No rollbacks. Didn't mind the downtime so much as the fact that if you can build a 420 ft coaster, you'd think they'd be able to figure out how to fixate tires on the back of the trains, we'll see what happens next year.

Overall a decent season, already counting down to opening day 2004, maybe I'll run to the new Soak City attractions..ha ha

Good: Working at the Park for my first season. What fun! Meet a lot of great friendships that will last all my life. Can not wait for '04.
--------------
Drag Races: 8
The Good: Riding TTD on opening day, even though we waited 6 hours to do it.

The Bad: TTD's down time all season and also on Coastermania. But I'm not really complaining about it.

The TTD: Riding on opening day front seat, and closing day in the front seat. It's still incredible.

Already looking forward to the next season.

The Good: Becoming an FOM at the desk, making a bunch of new friends, not having this season as hot as last season...without AC in the hotel lobby, it sure is miserable when the temp. is like 95 or higher and HUMID ;)

The Bad: Being told I ruined someone's vacation, being yelled at because TTD was always down in the begining of the season, the crappy weather that we had for most of the season (but it did keep it cool...)

The TTD: Only rode it once, but it was one hell of a ride! :)

Finally a shoeless Raptor rider! :)

Good:

Last weekend I rode MF while it was raining. Never expected to be that intense. The cold rain hitting your face and hands made truly unforgettable experience.

Bad:

Closing the Fright Zone closing early due to the rainy weather.

TTD:

Never rode it. :-(

There are 10 kinds of people. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

The good: meeting GTTPers here and there; MS minus trims; Dragster opening day and closing day; discovering Macaroni's pizza; Raptor anytime; any ride on Maggie without the trims; hot caramel apples with nuts; ride ops on Dragster; opening day.

The bad: MS ('nuff said); custard stands closing early during September and October (I never seem to hit my favorite one open when I want custard); price of my favorite sweatshirt in the shop under the Skyride; closing day.

The TTD: The very fact that it exists is amazing. 43 rides; two near rollbacks, but zero actual rollbacks. The memory of hoping for rainy weather and being next in line to launch when it stops for the months of August, September, and October. The look on the faces of two or three of the ride ops when I managed six rides in one day as a single rider (and I even rode most of the coasters in the park on the same day).

------------------
Awww, bad day? Take a different perspective on things. Try upside down, a barrel roll, a cobra roll or a corkscrew. Life can't be all that bad when your feet are over your head!

The good: My very first cheese-on-a-stick.

The bad: Understaffed restaurants during Halloweekends.

TTD: One ride all summer, at midnite. Only opened my eyes at the top of the hill. :)

------------------
I'm the product of a summer romance: My parents met at CP in '75!

The Good: My 18 rides On Dragster, 3-Front Row, and almost getting that rollback on closing day...(stalled at the top but kept creeping forward....ugh!)

The Bad: Only getting 300 rides in on Magnum for the season.

The ANNOYING: (I'll probably get flamed for this one...well, by the Robert groupies anyway)Magnum Robert. Sorry man, but some things, and people, get old real quick. Especially if you have to wait for that person to come back up the exit to load up everyone else who waited for the final train of the season! War to Jerry, Dan, and the others who've earned their way.

TTD: It was a rough season, and I guess it wasn't the same those days it wasn't running. But next year has better promise, and hopefully some train theming.
