2002 Spring has SUCKED!

Between the weather and the rides issues, it has been a BAD opening season. Anyone else remember a year like this? If so, what year? And remember, we have a new coaster this year when comparing it to the one you mention.

It may have been a great year for you at the point, but it does not look that great sitting here...

2000 was not very good weatherwise if you ask me. I remember it being somewhat cool and wet. I am worried that all of this summer is going to be like this. :(

wednesday was the most perfect day to be at CP. (May15)

72 degrees and no clouds in the sky.....it was awesome

A rainy day at CP is better than a sunny day at work....

The park has been open seven days to the public and you're already writing it off as sucking? Isn't that a little premature given the weather?

A combination of bad wind, cold weather, and a shorter offseason are perhaps why downtime has been a little up so far. It will pick up though, Monty and the crew always get those rides up and running like well oiled machines and this year will be no exception. This is comming from me too.

All I can say about this weather is WOW. How crappy. At least it is May. We still have June, July, August, September, and October to go through before we can call it a bad season (weatherwise).

Let me tell you, it gets a little old, standing there in the rain day after day after day. Especially when working at a spinning ride like witches wheel witch flings even more water at you. Oh well I guess that's why I work there. To have fun working no matter what the weather ;)

Well, yes & no. I can see where jeff is coming from w/ what he is saying, and w/ the not so decent weather the past couple weeks, thats has attributed to it, but still, some of the problems they are having with some of the coasters, (i.e. Maintinance Force, Maggie, Raptor) should have been taken care of between opening day, and the next friday. I can't remember any time during the season in my lifetime, that so many coasters have consistantly gone down. But, we'll give it a few days, I will be going sometime next week, and I will heavily base my opinion on that trip.

I'd like to think that things will straighten out too. The weather has been awful and that can't be helping them with getting issues resolved. I thought opening day was fairly decent. There were a few kinks, but that was to be expected. It seems like its taking them a bit longer to work out the kinks this year. I still have faith. You don't go from CP quality to Six Flags quality in one offseason unless something drastic changed and I don't think that happened considering the great success CP has had doing things their way in the past.

That's my point... seven days doesn't constitute "consistantly" down. You're looking at it as a big deal because several were down in the same day, and some of those to weather.

Aside from the lap bar issues opening day, the only real consistant drama has been with MF.

With any sort of wind, you really can't blame them for being timid in getting the rides up this early in the year. They've had enough rollback action in the park to last a whole year so I'm sure they want to avoid more which can happen easier in the relative cold so far. In Hindsight, downtime caused by throwing caution to the wind could create more uptime. They don't have to mess with rollbacks.

I've never been to CP when more than one ride was down at a time. Then again, my first trips are generally closer to Memorial Day weekend.

You can't fault CP for taking rides down due to weather. And the weather HAS sucked big time this week. The winds were up yesterday morning, and I pretty much expected Raptor to be down. WT wasn't up for ERT, but those less than 10 minute waits by early afternoon were fantastic. In fact, waits for all rides, except MF were less than 15 minutes if they were not walk ons.

As for Millie, I think they are taking advantage of the early mornings to try to work on the yellow train. Yeah, it sucks for JC members. But although I may not be the brightest bulb in the room, what I saw while waiting for Millie to open gave me every indication they simply took the time to test yellow. And why wouldn't they do their testing in the early morning on weekdays in hopes of getting the yellow train up for the weekend? They COULD have shut Millie down all day.

While wind is a problem ..The bigger problem has been the Unseasonally COLD Nights. The Coasters have been too cold in the AM...One day MF trains were warmed..The first one made it ..then the second one didn't..Go figure?

CP has to be "careful"...

And...some one posted the problems should have been worked out between the first week-end and May 10th..Well that week was such poor weather nothing could be run...
