2002 attraction musing...

At this point I'm assuming with a good amount of certainty that the 2002 attraction is completely planned out with all of the various contracts signed, and building permits filed.

I was just thinking that usually by this time in the process someone has taken it upon themself to go to the town records office (not sure of the exact name) and snoop around to find out about the heights of structures which have been approved for construction (namely, rollerocasters).

I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about filings with the town for construction of anything?  This is often the way that a new attraction is unshrouded due to the great communication ability that the internet provides us with...:)

The 2002 attraction could have been done with most planning before this season most likely.  Probably around last season too.
I was thinking that too, but I live too far away to do anything

Can't you just wait like everyone else for about a month? My god lol

...but it's funny that less that a month before construction on VertiGo started, they had to pass it with the town. So why would Cedar Point let out their secret of a new attraction's height months in advance?

Yes Beeman, I can and will wait like everyone else.  But does that make speculating any less fun?

CP_bound,

I thought of that too but my counter-argument to that is that the permit process required for a rollercoaster is probably more in-depth than the process required for a ride like Vertigo, which has a very small footprint.

You may recall that they only need to file for the foundation work before starting. Even then, they can wait until after they announce it.

I didn't really realize that Jeff, I guess I just thought it was different.  I suppose CP would be more sly than other parks when dealing with something like this.
I'm looking around to see if anyone knows the date of the press release for next year.  Does anyone know it?

OK, I suppose I should reword my question.  I know they are announcing it next month, but does anyone know a specific date yet?
