2002 attraction cancelled??

Will the new ride still get built as planned or has the falling economy and the attacks on 9/11/01 made and changes in their 2002 plans

They will Still build.

1.Cedar Point (vote best CP Recreation ever)
2.Kings Island

...probably not... **said in a "What the hell kind of question is that?" tone**

Why would Cedar Point change or cancel their plans because of the terrorist attacks or because the economy isn't as good as it was 2 years ago? Cedar Fair's stock is up 5% in the midst of all this happening.

I asked this question because on other message boards I have seen so much negativity of a lack of new coasters and I have seen people blaming the bad economy and the attacks for this! Now I do understand that it is probable for CP to continue with their current plans and IMO I think CP will need to keep adding attractions to encourage people to come especially with all the BS going on in the world today and this would give them in incentive to do so! I think's VF's attendence has dropped this year and I blamed it on the lack of ANY new rides or attractions other than new shows! Now MF alone is a reson for me to return to CP but I still hope they put in either a CCI or better yet an Intamin woodie loaded with airtime! :-) I purchased my cheap VF($49.50) 2002 season pass to use MORE at CP than VF since CP does a MUCH better job with running their rides right! BTW after one two rides on Mean Streak I finally understand why there is a few trims on it because of the roughness. I almost got a headache after those two rides! I think if an Intamin hyperwoodie would get built CP would find that it would be so smooth that they won't need any trims on it! I spoke to Dick Kinzel on my last visit to CP and he told me how he loves airtime after I mentioned reading the article about him so I trust him to try his best to run the ride the best he can and I think he has done that! :-)

Busch and Six Flags have already stated that cap ex spending will be reduced in the next few years, long before the attacks. They can't just keep spending on and on like that.

Sorry if my post came off sounding mean. I just got back from a George Carlin show, and that statement was rather bland compared to about everything he said. Sorry about that...

Who said they were getting a new ride next year?

They can keep on spending like that, to an extent. It's reflected in what charge for everything else. SFWoA charges $9.00 to park, $39.99 to get in, vending machine soft drinks are $2.75. If you build 5 roller coasters in two years and purchase Sea World on top of that, you need to raise prices to recoup those expenses
Boo! I don't like where all this hinting is going...
Haha - remember at the beginning of the season, SFWOA was saying that their admission ($37.99) was a dollar cheaper than their nearest competitor, Cedar Point? :)  Of course, that was offset by the more expensive parking right away, not to mention all the other things like $2.75 soft drinks.  CP's were $2.50 at the beginning of the season and then one day, they mysteriously dropped the price of the soft drinks in the vending machines to $2.00.  They kept charging $2.50 from the vendors and gave out a silly straw that people just threw all over the place and we had to pick up. :)  They started giving away something else with the drinks later, but I don't remember what it was.  I really am getting senile!  Back to the topic, I have no clue what CP is getting for next year.  I think "L" by Troika/Chaos and the island make sense as well as something up in the Giant Wheel area.  CP always surprises us though... :)

2001 Magnum Crew

I'm not trying to start any rumors or anything but last time I was in the park I saw a guy walking around in an Arrow jacket.  He looked like a pretty important guy. HEHE

Nice comeback Dan.  In a single thread you dashed everyone's hopes and then launched them high again.:)

I hadn't even considered an Arrow 4-D for CP, but I like the sound of it (as long as it's not a clone).

Speculation is fun...:)
