Yesterday I was going through my old Cedar Point things. I found the 1995, and 1996 park fun guides. The maps in both of the fun guides is almost the same as the 2000 park map on the official site. But the souvenir maps for 1995, and 1996 were a different style than the ones in the fun guides. They were the same style souvenir maps that Cedar Point has used since 1994. Also on a side note. On the 1996 park fun guide it doesn't even mention about the Mantis being new for 1996. It just has the Ripcord logo on the cover, and says Ripcord new for 1996. Why wouldn't they want people to know about the World's tallest, fastest, and steepest stand-up roller coaster. Anyways it was just a thought. I think that I have cleared up everybody's concern about the 2000 park map at Cedar Point.com.

Mantis How Much Can You Stand?
They probably did that because when they were making the map, the name Banshee was in question so they didn't put a name in.
I noticed that too. They may have wanted to promote Ripcord since it wasn't mentioned much and most people knew about Mantis.

"If you don't let me on Millennium Force first, I'll kick you square in the nuts!"
Plus, with Ripcord being an additional charge attraction, they probably wanted people to be drawn to it. Once the people are in the park, what's the point of advertising Mantis?

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!
Funny. I have a Souvenir map with Mantis on it. I wounder what year that was.
In '96, MANTIS was barely mentioned in the fun guide, but I have a brochure from a hotel, the same year, and they had a drawing of MANTIS, with the catch phrase, "how much can you stand." On a sidenote, since then, I think that Mantis has been the coaster used most in CP advertising due to it's bright colors. Until this little thing called MF comes along...

On the back of the map is a cartoon of Mantis (like was on the Raptor souvenir map) and then the words "how much can you stand?". It also has all the ride statistics on the map. About the same as Raptor's map. My map collection starts at 1993 and goes up to 1999. I also had some from 1990-1992, but can't find them.
