2000 Gate Prices

Since I made one of the last posts in the old CP Place, might as well be one of the first here.

Cedar Point's official site has posted 2000 Gate Prices:
http://www.cedarpoint.com/pricesnew_cedar.htm

And the Funday ticket jumps to $38.00!
Let's see... $27 million divided by $6 = 4.5 million full price admissions to pay for MF. Any guesses on how long that will take?
Yea but think of all the money they make from the admissions and souvenirs! It shouldn't take that long if you figure those factors in.
I thought that it was typical for a parks admission price to jump up a little bit from year to year. Espescially if there is a new 27 million dollar ride coming in.
Yea with 2 dollar bottles of Pepsi it shouldnt take that long to pay off Millennium Force!;)

I expect attendance is generally between 3.5 and 4 million each year.
As long as CP is building more coasters, raising prices a couple bucks is fine with me. What I really hate is when a parks up the gate ticket for landscaping and kiddie lands.
I have to say the parking fee is getting out of hand though..
Not sure what it means but...On the 2000 Price List for CP, they have eliminated the "tweener" ticket (for those 48" but under 54"). MAYBE this is a clue MF will have a 48" height restriction.
I thought they would raise the prices higher than that, but it is fine with me :)

I noticed the same thing Tim...

I bet that is a somewhat good indication that MF's minimum height restriction will be 48".

It's simple. Ticket prices went up $6.00 (I about fainted when I read that by the way)...so let's say CP draws 3.5 million, times 6...that's 21 million dollars, plus increases in food, souvenirs, maybe parking, etc...MF will be paid for by the end of 2000. With increased admission prices and CedarFair's profits, MF better be the best coaster in the nation, or people will be turned off, if they are not already...and that boardwalk project in 2001 better be incredible!
I like old posts!

Speaking of old posts ... Google Groups now has newsgroup archives back to 1981. I recently found my first newsgroup post ever, a 1992 message regarding Cedar Point's announcement of Snake River Falls on rec.roller-coaster.

Pretty cool stuff in there if you take the time to look.

Just because I have a fast car, doesn't mean pull me over on my way to CP!

Ahhh.. memories... I just spent an hour reading thru those old CP Place posts....  jeez, there was a lot more newbie noise back then.
Hmm Walt,

I wonder if with a little digging I won't be able to come up with a several-page CP guide somewhere in the archives?  A couple of weeks ago, I happened across a copy that I printed out several years ago from a website, but thought maybe it had also been on usenet.

My favorite and most useful park guide ever (although I would NEVER use it as such -- standard disclaimer).

Good times, I love Dave's quote back then: "Why do we keep calling it a 'fast pass' when it meant a much longer wait in line for me than I'd ever had before? -RideMan"

The other creepy part is that this site has been the same for that long. I really need to get on that redesign!

I don't think I ever posted that trip FAQ to rec.roller-coaster. The companion FAQ I did later, though, was posted there.

Is there a web archive of the CP site before the current one?  The one with the Magnum picture at the top with the same type of design as the other CF parks?
