20 oz pop prices lowered

Looks like they finally found the magical pricing point that was brought up during the Coastermania Q&A. Soda prices out of the vending machines, as well as vending carts, are now at $2.50. Who ever had July 4th in the "When are they going to lower pop prices" pool wins. :)

I noticed that too. I still don't know if I can justify $2.50 for a 20 oz. pop. Maybe if I'm really thirsty. I believe the prices for fountain pop also went down. I got a small for $2.15 and it used to be $2.35.

Just because you can't justify charging $3 for a Pepsi doesn't mean you can't charge $3 for a Pepsi.

It remains to be seen whether they have found the magical pricing point or not. I don't know how the weather was up there yesterday, but here it was the hottest day of the year so far at an official 96 degrees, and in Cincinnati I saw two signs proclaiming 99 degrees.

It will be interesting to see what kind of impact the change to $2.50 had on sales...and whether it will be enough for them, or if they will be forced back down to $2.

Interesting to hear that they remembered to drop the price on the carts this year as well. Remember last year the carts were $2.50 while the machines were $2...

$2.50 is is quite alright by me... there is something about seeing $3.00 on a vending machine that is just repelling!

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"

The $3.00 mark-up was never meant to be permanent... from what I understand they were just "testing" the new price to see how well it would do. Did it do well? I'm not sure, but either way, I'm not surprised to see it back down a bit.

I still won't likely buy at $2.50.

$2 is my limit as well. The water I will not pay at any price since they will gladly give you a free cup of ice water at any food stand.

I will never forget the look on the woman's face (who purchased 4 bottled waters for a total of $12--in June), when I walked up afterwards and asked for a cup of ice water. Priceless! She asked me why I could get the water for free, and I told her everyone could, and I would've told her beforehand had I known what she was buying.
Now they need to focus on lowering beer prices. $6.00 for a tap beer was ridiculous.
You could get a real hummer going off Point for 6 bucks :)

I think the idea behind charging so much for a beer is twofold.

The prevent people from buying it in excess, thus avoiding them from getting over intoxicated. Avoiding problems with drunks.

Secondly, it is easy for them to justify the high price to make them more money.

I doubt you would see a reasonable price for beer in any public facility like CP, let alone nickel beer night.

That only means the more well to do people get drunk. ;)

Busch parks give out free beer! ;). It ONLY cost $5.25 for a 16oz beer at Jacobs Field, and yet there are people who manage to get drunk.

I think the last beer I had at BGW was $3.25, and that was poured from a bottle!

Hehe, too bad they did away with the brewery tour during which they gave you a FREE cold one. :(

BGT also had free samples at their brewery. To bad I was to young to drink at the time. :(
I think they should lower it to $2 a soda, it still just seems to be way to expensive IMO.
Sporting events usually go hand in hand with alcohol to a lot of people. At the Indians games, it is somewhat traditional to down many beers, especially when you have a group of guys that feel it is the "guy" thing to do. Not that drinking is necessarly a bad thing. The park goer usually has a different mentality. Parks have more of a family atmosphere, something that Jacobs field tried to change when they tore down the old Municipal Stadium.

As far as the soda prices go, $2.00 would be a perfect median price for profit and customer acceptance.

"Hey Beer Man!"

I love hearing that when I go to Colts games. :)
