2 1/2 minute ride time?

According to Cedar Points website, the ride time for Maverick is approx. 2 min. 30 sec. Now I understand that they said approx., but according to my calculations...they're way off! The POV video and the really cool looking animation, has the train going through the course in just over 1 min. 30.

So...what's the deal? Are they wrong? Am I wrong? I'm just confused on how they get 2 1/2 minutes.

The train waiting to launch. I guess that counts now.

I'm wondering if the animation is sped up a bit. I'm thinking this coaster will be fast, not sure if it is as fast as the video shows. Plus, the tunnel transition may take longer than the video shows. I'm wondering if you will come to a stop or get held a little more at that point. I hope not! Not sure that all of that equals an extra minute on the ride.

Almost all coasters have "official" times longer than their experience times. I think that they factor in load/unload times, but this wouldn't be the first time it's been exaggerated.

I also looked at the animation and wondered where the extra minute was. Then i remembered that they have to load the train in 36 seconds to have their 1200 riders per hour. Add to that another 30 seconds to unload, and it will be around 2 1/2 min. So they are either counting the load/unload time or the animation is a little short.

Don't forget that Skyhawk has a two minute ride time too. :)

also when the ride is done and the train enters the station, the train most likely will stop short and then move to line up with the correct row. this adds a few secs. and i bet the train will roll out of the station and on to the launch pad in the tunnel slower than the video shows.

I was wondering the same thing.

I guess they are counting waiting to launch, and waiting to unload outside of the station in a block (like TTD) as part of the 2:30. ;)

The train slows to 5mph before being launched.
