I recently aquired this souviner booklet and thought you guys might enjoy it. I also won a 1902 brochure that I'll post here as soon as I get it in the mail. :)

Nice acquisition. I particularly liked the shot of the guests riding pedicabs.
Hmmm. Something like that could actually be handy getting around the Point today...

I love looking back at these things. It's amazing to see that people flocked to Cedar Point back in the day to chill in the grass under the trees for a picnic or hang out on the beaches of Lake Erie. The pace now (for the most part) is completely different. It's fun to look back at history and see how things have "progressed" over time.

I wish room rates at the Breakers were still that low!

Yeah, I never knew that Gemini had that extended layout originally in the concept art. Looks like fun!

I could be wrong but, I think your just seeing it from the opposite side. The view in the booklet would be as seen from the back of the Soak City lot. The stats match what is on RCDB.

Its hard to say. To me it looks like there is a part of the ride [up and right of the station] that isn't there now. That would be out on the midway wouldn't it? and that would also wreck the tight, "figure-8" styling it has.
"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"
I don't know. In the concept art there is a hill that drops down over the station. In reality there is a turn that goes over the station, but there are no drops that face that direction (towards the SC lot). Also the "airtime" hill in the middle of the structure does not exist in the actual ride. It seems to be an oversized version of what actually does exist after the first turn.
I don't think its an accurate drawing of the finished product.

From Coastern3rd's pics it looks to me like the second turn around was L shaped. Anyone else?

The second turn is certainly different in the art work. I think the artist just got it wrong, I doubt there was any change in the actual design of the ride.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
The turn is just rotated. The second hill also goes much farther down than it does in real life.

I love how the 1978 brochure states that the mine ride can be enjoyed by any guest of any age
Blue people fly sideways when it rains
Try being a kid who for a number of years rode the mine ride, then one year you show up and you are too short. There was no grandfather clause on that change.
