Yes, it's a long way away (unless you work for planning and development in the park), but this seems like a good way to kick-start a discussion about Cedar Point's 150th anniversary. Jason McClure recently sat down for an interview about the park's near future, revealing that the park (ride-wise) has something up it's sleeve for 2020.
"Family, history, and the future"....
Three cornerstones of a season-long party to celebrate this amazing place.
Interesting insertion about the coliseum as a point of emphasis as well.
Like all of you, I look forward to every new season at Cedar Point, and while we have lots of memories to make in 2019, you can't help but wax nostalgic about such an incredible place ready to experience an incredible anniversary.

Promoter of fog.
He sure did reference the Ballroom quite a few different times along with the Town Hall when discussing the 150th. Also confirmed is the Monster Truck track will be on the former Cedars site with the main attraction taking place in Celebration Plaza. I look forward to the celebration and all the nostalgia that will be the 150th.
That was a nice interview. I’d like to notate the part where he focuses on the future and elevating the guest experience with future attractions after mentioning Magnum, Millennium, and Dragster.
^^This. I love the place- I admit sneaking in there at least once per trip (the door's always unlocked, I'm not sure you're supposed to go in but nobody's ever caught me to say otherwise :P ) and while I don't stay in more than a couple minutes cuz it's usually hot as heck inside I just love to look around for a minute and soak in the history. It needs a little TLC for sure, and perhaps some tweaks to make it accessible, but live music in there nightly, or even weekly, would be wonderful.
Proud 5th Liner and CP fan since 1986.
I’ve mentioned before that I’d like to see a total remodel or even a rebuild of the whole building and remake it into a more user friendly space. Possibly even with a large column free eatery/music venue on the lower level and an updated event space for rent upstairs.

Before anything major can happen to the Colosseum/ballroom, a few departments would need to move.
So, sure, it IS possible to renovate. But there is more that happens for daily park operations than some people realize.
Well it's a good thing that some prime real estate just opened up on the opposite side of the property!
I hope the Town Hall museum gets some love for the 150th. Some of the displays are so disgustingly dirty it's embarrassing.
There’s a fine line between great live entertainment and rowdy wasted troublesomethings. I would LOVE to see live music re-emerge into Amusement parks much like it was a century ago. Large (air conditioned) space, grab a bite, bev, enjoy the show. Wouldn’t mind seeing a (smaller scale) casino on point too. (I don’t even gamble but adult -out of the sun- options are increasingly appealing)

Have Ohio bands play in the ballroom on a nightly basis. Easy.
They used to, for employees/slaves that is. 50 cent beer and above average garage groups were the fare. CP was spot on in their entertainment. Of course the employee rec center used to serve 2 dollar pitchers of watered down beer as well....
Different era.

Ah yes, the era of 3.2% beer in Ohio. That was my time and all beer in the park was 3.2. When I had partial kegs left over from catering gigs, we either took them to the Circus or Battery Park for a party! Customers were always billed for the full keg as soon as we tapped it, so, more for us! Customers most always insisted that we always be social while we were serving. Only job I’ve ever had where drinking on the job was EXPECTED! My boss, John Albino, would regularly come by the picnic areas ostensibly to check up on the catering event, but, really just for the beer.
