$15 to get a VIP seat for fireworks?

Really? Watched them last year on the beach for free

Then don't buy it.

You forgot to mention the hot dog, chips and drink that they are including. According to Cedar Point's Twitter they've nearly sold out. Those fireworks aren't cheap and this probably helps a little bit.

If I was going to be there tonight, I would have bought this. It seems like a pretty good deal, just for the food, plus you are guaranteed a good place to be able to sit at.

I was there yesterday and we sat in the general viewing area. And I must say, I didn't like the VIP edition. I miss sitting anywhere on the beach up by wicked twister. we always sat there. Of course management sees that and says" look we can charge for that!" and off they go. and then guess what. people buy it. They'll have it for the next 10 years now.

The whole time the security guards stood there blocking our view at the gate between areas. we were going to move back, but all the spots where taken. Next time we're moving way back by the hotel or lakeside pavilion. people constantly getting up and running past us sitting in general, blocking our view. My friend of course didn't want to move. The guard's head was in the way the whole time. Goodbye, beach section by WT :(

From my understanding the only thing stopping you from sitting on the beach where you wanted to was the cost of A movie ticket, that also happened to include free food and beverage .

And how do you know this wasn't a request Of guests for this. That don't want to have people running in front of them and standing in front of them like in the general seating areas as you speak of .

I think the price they're charging was more than fair and reasonable

And you still could have, for $15 a person - which included food and a beverage - and it also guarantees that you have your spot, should you have to get up and go to the restroom or something else.

It's basically the same principle as paying for pavilion seats at a concert, only there you get the added benefit of a roof over your head if it rains (at most venues - some have no roof)

I don't think 15 bucks is a bad price, but i can understand people's frustration. There's usually two types of businesses. Ones where you don't pay a large cost up front then get nickel and dimed for everything, and others where you pay a large cost up front and is more or less all inclusive. Cedar point seems to try to blur those lines and a lot of customers aren't happy about it.

I don't see why anyone would complain about this. Nothing changed except they gave you the option to purchase a close up seat that includes food. Since they sold out, a lot of people were happy with it. You still had the entire beach and boardwalk to do what you always did.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

We saw the fireworks just fine last night from where Maxair is it. We also enjoyed them last year on the beach as Breakers guests. It just cracks me from a marketing standpoint, the way they find ways to chisel money from park guests. I myself am a sucker for Hotel Breakers, but to me it's worth everything I spend to stay there.

We sat right in front of the Lakeside Pavilion and I had no complaints with the view. Getting out of Soak City's parking lot though was horrible. It took an hour and a half to just get out of the parking lot. We saw two fights break out and three cars drive over the sidewalk to avoid traffic in some way. It was chaos.

Giving people options to choose on what kind of guest experiences they'd like to have is not chiseling money out of people. It's good guest services, and will likely drive repeat business and higher overall guest satisfaction.

Anyone who has stayed recently on point has gotten the guest satisfaction surveys, and they are quite thorough with plenty of options for feedback.

I really don't get people that think managements really believes screwing over or chiseling money out of guests is a good business model.

That's kind of management's job..... it's business 101.

Yes, still heard horns honking past 1 AM from our camper in Lighthouse Point. I thought people might still be there this morning.

this is why I dislike it. I do not want to pay that much JUST to watch simply fireworks. 15 is also a lot for a crappy hot dog and the comfy chair that was probably the idea of many middle aged moms and grannies who have a hard time sitting on the sand/ground (go figure). No, I did not pay for the VIP, but the new CEO is most likely part of the new idea. when Mr. kinzel was CEO, you could always sit anywhere on the beach on july 4th. I have been going to the park on the 4th since 2006. All of a sudden, a new CEO steps in, and Voila! charge for special seating.

^^^that must be satire.
