10/15 TV Alert: Cleveland

Fox 8 Cleveland will have a segment on the new ride construction at Cedar Point tomorrow, 10/15, during the 6 AM and 8 AM hours.

The last time Fox had a segment on construction, all they stated was "Cedar Point is starting to build a ride for next season. They will be releasing information at a later date." It was all information that everyone who had visited the park this year already knew. Unfortunately that station has a tendency to hype up there stories and coverage, and then they turn out to be nothing special or important at all. Hopefully this time they are going to actually have something to report to the public.

While that is correct Junior, based on the tease for the AM story I would watch to see the coverage...My guess is Kenny C. will be patroling the construction site. We will probably not learn anything "new" but it will be fun to see the construction zone again.

It will be interesting to see what questions the media asks. I'm sure they will get the standard response. "An announcement is coming at a later date. We will all just have to wait until then."

From what I've heard, the segment will be about 3 minutes long and was filmed last week. I don't think there will be any live coverage. Tim, did you see John Taylor transform Kenny into one of the midway monsters a couple of weeks ago?

The "story" was a generic look at the construction and the cloak of secrecy surrounding it. Fox 8 call the story Point to Point, and Tracy mcCool stated she would be back in a few weeks with an 'update"

I wish the media, just once, would report correct information: "Magnum 200 XL" "64 rides" "150' tower"--clearly it was taller than that when it was filmed. Its as bad as these weather people who tell us its a blizzard when its going to snow 1-2"...this is Cleveland for crying out loud.

Also they said that the park wasn't releasing who was making the ride. Well, its not that difficult to look at this track, look at Millennium and Wicked Twister's track to realize its the same manufacturer. I did like the part about the rumor about the restaurant. That was funny.

WOIO TV19 (Cleveland) will also be doing a story about the construction. The story will appear on tonight's news, sometime between 5 PM and 6:30 PM.

Cleveland's Fox sounds as bad as Detroit's: american idol american idol 5,000 times a day. Please fill us in on the other newscast from TV19...

Yes, our Fox affiliate sucks. I did learn during some of my travels last year that some Fox affiliates have gone back to reporting actual news, but they're apparently few and far between.

13ABC here in Toledo talked about the new ride tonight. They showed some photos and i'm pretty sure they were from VirtualMidway (was hard to make out the copyright).

I was happy to see the one on 13ABC here in Toledo, even if it was only 30 seconds. I know I've seen the pics they showed before, I think they were either Jeff's or Walt's, but I could be wrong. On a different note, I'm proud to say I was featured in the same newscast as the new ride. I was in the story about the Sylvania Schools levy. The funny thing is that as the reporters were approaching my car (I didn't know what they wanted yet), I told my friend "Yes, I will talk to you about the new Cedar Point ride."
