In Phoenix, AZ this past weekend a 12 year old boy fell out of a log flume, and is in a medicly induced choma. According to the family, he flipped out wile riding the ride fine and fell down the hill, hitting every support bar while drowning, and the employees didn't help at all.

Personally, I can't see how he fell out unless he was doing something incredibly stupid, like standing up on the ride.
I know this isn't Cedar Point, but there's not much going on in the offseason.

Whether the 12 year old boy was doing something stupid or not, it is the ride operators responsibility to stop the ride when something that is a safety risk occurs. You are a trained operator for this specific ride. You don't leave that judgement up to the 12 year old guest.
I'm curious to hear the truth. I think we all know that story given by the family is their clouded version of it to help ensure they get the biggest monetary gains possible.
This had to be at least a thought in the removal of white water landing. I'm surprised any such rides, in which the passengers are unrestrained, still exist.
^^Wow, their kid is in a coma, and neither of us know the complete details clearly. Have some empathy man

I mean, there are risks to both restraints and no restraints. Without any restraints, stuff like this could happen. With restraints, you have the possibility of another Shoot The Rapids incident happening, where people are stuck underwater drowning.

We know the family, by their own volition, decided to discuss the incident with the press. Whenever that's the case, I think it's reasonable to assume they have concerns other than the health of the victim. We can still have empathy while also questioning their intentions.
