1) Don’t know
2) Consider it an “upgrade”. The base parking fee is covered by your pass and you pay the balance for preferred.
3) I don’t know for sure, but with preferred parking anywhere there’s a dashboard card or something. If it’s dated you should be able to show it for re-entry. Always ask.
$10 extra, you get a pink hang tag with the date written on it and a receipt . The hang tag should be good to get you in and out of the lot all day. Sometimes you'll get an attendant that asks for the receipt, too.
I’m not quite sure what the point of the extended boardwalk is either, but it would certainly give nice views of the beach and lake.

My wife & I enjoy walking the various trails & metropark paths around the area. She asked me this morning whether the Boardwalk would be accessible during the off-season, after CP closes Oct. 28th or so. We walk in all kinds of weather & temperatures, but the wind off of the lake in Jan. & Feb. is brutal & the potential for snow drifts (mixed with sand) that they probably won't want to plow probably means no hiking there. On the other hand there will likely be some peaceful & beautiful days also. Just thinking out loud....
Sorry folks... parks closed. The moose at the toll booth should’ve told ya. (That’s all the further you get off season)Last edited by XS NightClub, Friday, July 27, 2018 9:11 AM
As an avid runner I love the new boardwalk extension. Vacation runs are often highlights of any trip I take. For years I've cautiously run from Breakers to the main lot on perimeter road. I got yelled at for running on the causeway one year and switched up to Cedar Point road as a better option. However, I'd often get some (very polite) requests not to run around the perimeter. Imagine my excitement this year when I could run the boardwalk to Cedar Point road safely and without breaking the rules. Best addition to the park this year!
Also before anyone complains; I run early. 4-7 am against any oncoming traffic with blinking lights and a headlamp if needed. Yes I know that taking precautions does not make it right.
^Normally around these parts there'd be a lot of complaining. But right now there are cell phones and trim brakes, so I think you're in the clear :)

The real question here - do you take your cell phone with you on your run, or do you leave it in a locker?
If any of you saw the live Twitter vid Tony posted, they're going to start offering Sunset Wine Tours with pedal cabs up and down the boardwalk 4 times per night for $60 for 2 people.
I think Cedar Point is really going to start using the Boardwalk as an opportunity for these types of events/experiences, especially since the focus has shifted so heavily to seeing Cedar Point as a whole resort, not just an amusement park.Last edited by Sparty42, Tuesday, July 31, 2018 1:52 PM
After camp last week now both my boys have earned their Kayaking Merit Badge so I was thinking of going to the beach sometime soon and renting a couple. Has anyone done this and give some pointers? Will probably stay at the beach for a 2-3 hours then head into the park after dropping our stuff back in the car. I briefly checked out the Boardwalk a few weeks ago from the Beach Gate and noticed a rinse off shower there. Anyone know if there are others further down towards the main lot? Suppose I could always drive over to CPS and take a full shower there before heading into the dry park. I don’t recall seeing anywhere to change on the beach unless I missed something. Sand in cargo shorts would make for an unpleasant dry park experience.
I think we will be Ok with just parking on the north side of the lot and skipping preferred parking as it looks like a lot shorter walk to the beach than we had at camp getting to the waterfront and no hills to boot. 😂
Facilities are lacking along the boardwalk. Not even an open-air urinal between the main lot and pavilion.
Well then, I will make sure to bring my camp trowel to dig a cat hole. 😂
There is a changing station about halfway down the beach, but no showers.
There are shower trees along the boardwalk located next to entrances from the sand beach.
I figured the "point" of the Boardwalk was to provide infrastructure to protect the park from the lake and all of its ferociousness, and that everything else it provides is just bonus.
^^ No private shower. Sorry, I should have been more clear.
I love the new boardwalk. Perfect addition for the park, esp. by the main lot and gatekeeper where people now have access to the beach. Yes, you have to pay to park, but it's still a great way to use that under-rated beach without going into the park first. I love how you can just walk out onto the beach from that corner there. I am glad the park is promoting the beach more, people should be using it like back in the 50s/60s/70s. And you can walk in the water, how a beach should be. Sure helps alleviate the crowds on days like July 4th where people are crammed going out of the main gates. Also, good photo ops for gatekeeper, twister, windseeker, and beach without going into the park.
