Cedar Point dreams

Friday, May 10, 2019 2:16 PM

Had a Cedar Point dream last night but it got me thinking. I wasn't exactly at Cedar Point but rather at Sports Force Park, but for whatever reason Gatekeeper was there and people were riding it in between games. This got me thinking. Corkscrew is a ride that we all know is often a walk on anymore, but holds significant historical value. While I personally would be sad to see it go, I know that eventually it will leave the park and a new ride that will likely end up being more popular will replace it. But my dream got me thinking. What if Cedar Point didn't scrap Corkscrew but rather moved it to Sports Force Park and made it an up charge attraction? Say $2 per ride. With all the tournaments over the summer it surely would get plenty of use from kids that want something to do in between, or after games and could be a way to make some nice cash for Cedar Point.

I concur, but would it be difficult to move? I mean, it's a product of the 70s and hasn't budged for decades, and I don't think it was made to be mobile. On the other hand, if a relic like Demon Drop was successfully moved to Dorney Park, I suppose it's possible.

I'd miss it looping over the midway, though. Love Corkscrew or hate it, you gotta admit that the look is iconic.

I had a dream last night where the Big Dipper from Geauga Lake was re-created as a GCI at Cedar Point. I don't remember where they placed it, but everyone walked by it like they had seen a ghost.

Wow, this thread hasn't seen any activity in a bit...

Anyway, my most recent dream about Cedar Point had me going to the park with a friend of mine, and we get sidetracked by this abandoned Dave & Buster's/Midway mall type place, so we go to explore it and steal a bunch of stuff out of it.

Another dream I had is I went to Cedar Point for a Pointbuzz event concerning Gatekeeper. The event was they redid Gatekeeper, and they were giving us first rides on it. Boy, was this ride a lot different. First off, you had to walk through the parking garage-like station to get to it. Tony said that was for the astronomical lines that the park is getting. After you make it to the top of this giant parking garage station, you're greeted by the new trains. Instead of being wing coaster trains, they're basically Valravn's trains that got linked together, so now you had nine rows of eight people. We then got on the ride. I can't remember the exact layout, but I'll give it my best shot. It went into Gatekeeper's usual lift hill, wing over drop, and Immelman. That's where it got unusual, because after the immelman it transitioned into a Norwegian loop a la Fahrenheit and then dipped into a zero G stall. It also had things like a cobra roll, flying snake dive, and other bizarre elements.

If anything, I enjoyed the ride. But when I get home and go on this site, there's a thread on Gatekeeper 2.0, where complaints were being written in droves about it. Flame wars were going left and right around this site. Some people said that Mean Steak was smoother than this thing. Others said the original Gatekeeper was better. Another complaint was about platinum and gold passholders. Tony sees this site exploding, Jeff is struggling to manage all the web traffic, and I'm over here watching all the drama unfold. Pointbuzz ends up getting shut down for a few days so Jeff can modify it more.

I recently had a dream where I was on Millennium Force, and felt the sensation of airtime the whole ride. The way I felt it in my dream was, I was riding on a cloud. It's one of those dreams where you feel the sensation of the ride while sleeping if that makes sense.

Another dream I had recently was I was convincing Tony Clark not to get rid of Rougaoru. He knew how much of a fan I was so instead of getting rid of the ride, made the queue easier to access without going around everything.

I had another dream where they were modifying Rougarou to accommodate the trains with the vest restraints. When I went to the park on opening weekend, there was nothing over there except the station and lift hill. I guess they were adding the wider track to accommodate the trains too. Personally I love Rougarou the way it is, but if they were to modify it a second time, do so over where the mid course brake run is along with that corkscrew. I guess that's where a lot of people bump their heads.

I'm sure nobody will respond about what I have to say in the dream topic here, but I had a recent dream where Cedar Point was modifying the layout of Millennium Force and part of Rougarou so they could build their new wooden roller coaster they've been drooling over for years. I am guessing in order for this to work, they would have to smash up more concrete where Shoot the rapids was, and modify Forbidden Frontier. I doubt Cedar Point will go that route, but still a cool dream.

A little while back I had a dream I was walking down the boardwalk near Gatekeeper with friends/family and the ground was flooded from a sudden downpour so I was wading in water but the sky was bright blue and sunny like the storm had just passed. It was very warm and my sister in law called my cell phone and asked me to go into the park and find her and tried to describe where she was and I was like "OK I think I know where you are what's the problem?" and she told me she was scared and needed a hug. Yeah, my dreams are weird...

You know how sports will trade players away at times? Well my dream I had last night was similar to that. Cedar Point and Michigan Adventure's agreed to trade Rougarou to Michigan Adventure's for Wolverine going to Cedar Point. When they were asked about it, they said they would rebuild the structure, but keep the track to transfer over. I also wonder If they could build a wooden roller coaster over part of the lagoon? That would be interesting.
