Being that pop-up annoyance is exponential, double the pop-ups would be 4 times infinity.
I get a bunch (usually 1-3) when I go to coasterbuzz. Then again, I don't have my pop up blocker enabled.
CoasterBuzz actually suffers from another problem, in that I can't easily handle ad distribution, thus the initial onslaught. But hey, club members don't have that problem.
I think this conversation just turned circular! :)
Well if you must get rid of it, I understand. I don't understand turning away people paying you $$$ but then again, if it requires a significant time investment to get it working again I guess I understand. I'd think it'd be more so just a database object property of ads t/f or something?
I'm still kind of surprised I was one of only a few actually paying for premium.
How about a combined CB-PB premium membership, say costing an additional $10 over the CB cost, but including ad-free experiences at both?
Hey, a guy can dream, right? :)
FF w/ ABP
Then you can just be a freeloader until nothing on the Internet is free.
Well, you said yourself that the membership is no longer available.
I'd say I'm just utilizing what's available. Whether I pay for it or not makes no difference. I'm not going to get in a very redundant discussion about it nor am I going to start calling people names like others obviously feel the need to do.
The software is available and free. There wasn't even a donation asked for it when I downloaded it. On top of that, how do you know that I didn't donate money when I downloaded it or any of the other countless freeware programs running on my computer? If you have issue with freeware on the internet I'd suggest taking it up with Mozilla or the code writers that deem it necessary to write programs such as Ad Block Plus in order to do away with completely useless ads. I'm not anywhere near the target audience for those inane ads so it really makes no difference whether I use the software or not.
I visit customer's homes every day and see the damage that pop ups and ads do to unknowing people's computers with spyware and adware.
Duck! The point flew right over your head and it's still flying about.
No, I got it. You think by using free programs to get rid of useless ads the internet is going to be a pay to view entity.
I have a different view and am entitled to it. Like I said, it's a very redundant discussion and I have no issues utilizing one of the most powerful free programs on the internet today.
No, what I take issue with is you using what I provide without "paying" me for it. That makes you a freeloader, and I don't care for freeloaders.
Possibly if you were willing to take money for it still I MIGHT consider it but I think it's sleazy to take money from 3rd parties and not give someone the option to get rid of it by paying.
So if you think that's freeloading, then sure. You're the one who stopped offering an ad free environment. I never mentioned Ad Block Plus until you made the change.
Boohoo Loopy can't get what he wants.
Ben, which part of wasn't worth the time invested was I not clear about? It's only turning away money if the cost involved is less than the return. It ain't.
Without getting too technical, what makes it so prohibitively time consuming to make a premium PB experience, when you're presumably already doing so with CB?
Is the CB Club going away as well? Or is the Club no longer going to be ad-free?
Two totally different systems, code bases and about five years in between them. The two systems have nothing to do with each other. The worst thing is that transactions in such small amounts result in the bank getting entirely too much, and that pisses me off.
